I refuse to let this corrupt organization take away a game that my family grew up watching, playing, and bonding over. We don't see each other that often now and I want to catch a game or two with them.

I'm in Canada

Go to the park and watch kids play. They’ll be less overpaid and spend less time on the floor.

Don't watch them. Its not taking away the game. Watch other matches just don't watch world cup.

I don't align with this company but let me watch it anyways. At that point just watch it since your twisting yourself to justify yourself.

Self-justification aside, the effect of pirating the games (Fifa gets no money) vs not pirating the games (Fifa gets money) is substantially different.

If you are going to watch a game, Fifa would rather you pirate their game than someone else's. It's still free advertising when you discuss the game with friends or online.

I would argue that almost all professional football at this point is morally bankrupt. The German league may be the least at face value (50+1 ownership rules, genuine grassroots involvement etc.), but I'm sure it the owners of the clubs aren't really interested in you or I at the end of the day.

[–] FundMECFS@piefed.zip 3 points 5 days ago

Yeah at this point all I watch is the CONIFA competitions and me local unprofessional footie.

[–] chinaski@lemmy.ml 23 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Or…. Just don’t support FIFA at all and boycott the games. The “fuck fifa” is otherwise empty.

Was Joker corrupt? He doesn't seem to care about money or power.

[–] Fisch@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 5 days ago

I was gonna say, I'd trust Joker more than the actual people in charge of this company

[–] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He also famously doesn't like nazis, so I doubt he'd get on with fifa.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 3 points 4 days ago

So he's antififa?

[–] therealdries@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 5 days ago

He was literally a liberal strawman of an anarchist in that movie... so I'd say no.

No, but in general fmhy lists seem to be quite well up-to-date

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 5 days ago

https://rentry.co/megathread also a good resource which happens to link to fmhy for live sports

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 days ago

PPV.to is decent

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

I used to use Sportsurge. They are, or were, a decent stream aggregator. Just make sure your adblock is turned on.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago

There is lots of other football/soccer around. Watch and support it and don't support FIFA. Why should they change when fans keep rewarding them for what they are doing? Watching, even for free, is supporting them.

[–] Luisp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 days ago

Rojadirecta was taken by the FBI but there are dozen of alternatives with the same name. Pro tip Google won't show them in their results

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is that the manager from Office Space?

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 6 points 5 days ago

I don't think Darth Vader was corrupt.

[–] far_university1990@reddthat.com 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Corrupted by dark side. See his yellowing eye before burn on mustafar. Dark side corrupt body.

[–] Baggie@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

Seems pretty sithphobic if you ask me, so much for the tolerant left

Alt universe he just had jaundice, but everyone thought he was turning evil.

Another alt universe, he gets diagnosed with jaundice and the credits roll.

I know a guy who has been using an app on his AndroidTV device called RBTV+. He goes on to say that it shows many high quality sports streams and more recently was able to enjoy the winter games.

https://blog.imtvnews.sbs/rbtvplus-link/ - all caveats apply. Careful out on the seas.

[–] yopyop@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago

fyi the french TV station "M6" will broadcast 54 matches out of 104. Would a VPN suffice ?

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago

Streamed .pk works for most of my sports needs

Iptv, or use youtube + vpn to brazil (the channel cazé tv will broadcast them for free)

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 3 points 5 days ago

Does meth streams do Fifa? I use them for ufc and the bitrate is dogshit and the chat is the most racist thing ive ever witnessed

fmhy.net

But most importantly, don't watch it. I've never found soccer to be entertaining. I watch hockey, cricket, rally racing, rugby. All these I find more entertaining

[–] notgold@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All of those are more enjoyable but I'm assuming these are the world cup bandwagoners that never watch another game.

Could watch other leagues too. A bazillion of them out there

[–] atro_city@fedia.io -1 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Why watch them live in the first place? Can't you watch the replays or just highlights? Is football even worth watching live anymore? It seems like such a slow and boring manner to consume the sport.

[–] D06M4@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 days ago

Well said.
Piracy promotes future sales. Whoever really wants to fuck the company behind the product/service won't consume it in any possible way and instead will support it's competition.

[–] Ilandar@lemmy.today 1 points 5 days ago

This is like asking why anyone bothers watching movies when they can watch short form videos on social media instead. It is brainrot.

[–] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 5 days ago

This is the way. Those matches do not change anything, they are just spectacle to enrich the elites and dragnet innocents for ICE's prisons. It makes absolutely no difference to watch the replay the day after or even the week after, when it will likely be more accessible and you won't have to fight with the timetables, streams, etc.
