A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.

1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.

A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.

B. No illegal content.

C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.

D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.

E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.

2. Include a community or instance title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities or instances all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

MODERATORS

conservatism@piefed.social

This is a community for conservatism. Every other conservative space in the Fediverse has devolved into extremism or bigotry. This will NOT be tolerated. The rules are as such:

  1. No racism or ethnosupremacism.
  2. No antisemitism (including dogwhistles or using right or left politics to deny it).
  3. No misogyny (such as saying women should not vote).
  4. No queer-hatred (disagreeing with their lifestyle is not a blank cheque for vitriol or exclusion).
  5. No ableism.
  6. No ageism.
  7. No slurs.
  8. No extremism.
  9. No personal attacks or strawmen on others (ad-hominens). ARGUE IN GOOD FAITH!
  10. No spam.
  11. No flood.
  12. No trying to find loopholes in the rules.
  13. Moderator and the host instance has the final say. Follow the Terms of Service of PieFed and, even if you may disagree with them, the broader Fediverse as a whole.

Edited for accuracy.

Every other conservative space in the Fediverse has devolved into extremism or bigotry.

Why do you think that is?

If you enforce those rules, you won't have any posts.

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

To be frank, I would rather have no posts than make the world or the Fediverse a worse place. And I quite like the Fediverse... it is one of the best social media networks ever created! I want to improve upon it to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I will enforce basic decency and respect.

Edited to make our standards clearer.

I won’t be joining this one, but I wish you good luck — this one seems like it’s gonna be a lot of work to moderate. Hope you manage to create a good space that advances positive ideas.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (14 children)

that advances positive ideas.

Sorry but conservative ain't about positive ideas

It will definitely attract extremists. I looked at the broader Fediverse blocked instances and ALL OF THEM were banned for things such as bigotry or Nazism. It is unhinged behaviour and unbecoming! These types of communities or instances tends to devolve into circlejerks... I do not intend to let that happen. People may argue 'What about freedom of speech?!' and my answer is simple: 'Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence.' Do not use that principle to be hateful. It will not be tolerated here.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Don’t judge me too harshly.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

only good memories, I promise

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 1 points 1 day ago

You have the advantage of me, unfortunately

Accidental double reply.

[–] Shimitar@downonthestreet.eu 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I Will be joining and participate. Or at least read. Not because I am a conservative myself, I am not, but because I welcome different ideas from mine when they are declined in a way to accept discussion and not imposition .

Wish you luck...

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It is good to have you! Everybody is welcome here. Welcome aboard!

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You should define your vision of what convervatism is

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

I will make a separate post in the community later today about it. Thank you for the suggestion!

[–] artyom@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'll join for the lulz. Godspeed, moderator.

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

Welcome aboard and thank you!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would not mind a space that recognizes the abandonment of conservative principles by the republican party and tried to get back to principles that have been chipped away at since nixon. If it considers conservatism the deficits don't matter voodoo economics and stuff right up to maga. whelp then I will just block it.

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

The GOP has not been conservative for a long time.

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

This will be fascinating and amusing to see collapse

[–] brickfrog@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not sure if you already know, the Piefed software (and pifed.social site) does maintain a list of default domains they block. It's mostly right leaning/far right type stuff but still, hosting a conservatism community on an instance that censors/blocks a lot of those related links... is certainly a choice.

See https://lemmy.ml/post/47022286/25574741 and rest of the post discussing it.

I've no interest in the community, just letting you know in case you're wondering why certain news site links don't show up there.

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)
  1. Yeah. They do. And that is a good thing. Extremism should be banned no matter what it is and hosting on an instance that blocks these things means I chose the correct instance. This community will not be associated with them anyways.
  2. Thank you for the information. I will put this to good use of what sources not to use when citing information. I largely use one leftist source, one centrist source, and one rightist source to avoid blindspots. Authenticity and accuracy is ultimately what matters, not an ideological spin.
  3. I respect that. Still, really, thank you.

Edited because I originally completely messed up my wording.

Brilliant to make this and good foresight on the rules you've laid down. Lemmy/piefed will probably only grow if we allow diversity of thought, and so far has lacked any right wing spaces.

I'm willing to help moderate if you need another mod in the future.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

so far has lacked any right wing spaces.

good

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I may take you up on that if moderation ever gets too difficult for me to handle alone. Much obliged for the offer!

Edited to add I may take you up on the offer.

Thank you, replaceable fascist #69420, for providing the Fediverse with yet another free public toilet 🖕

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I respect your opinion. Have a blessed rest of your day, evening, or night. Just note, we are not Fascists. Fascism is banned in this community as that is extremist.

Edited to add the note.

[–] chloroken@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hilarious. I'll see you in a week when your community is full of Nazis. PieFed is such a trip.

[–] InfernoWarrior@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

Nazis are banned in this community as are any other extremists. See you in a week!
