"Voted them into power" might give a slightly wrong impression since they at most had slightly over a third of parliament, making them the largest single parliamentary body but definitely not a majority, and their actually seizing power hinged on Hitler being appointed by Hindenburg and then the whole emergency powers thing. My point in saying this is that while there were many, many overt German fascists, Nazi Germany only became what it was because of the liberals not actually opposing them, including the ones voted in nominally in opposition to them.

Remember when the Red Army rolled into Berlin, announced, "it's voting time!" then Stalin personally called Hitler and said, "you're finished bozo"?

Truly my favourite moment of WW2. An inspiring story for generations of libs

Who is conducting the elections, and who counts the votes? Who are allowed to be candidates, and who aren't? Who are allowed to be voters and who aren't? How are the votes cast? Voting/Polling is not a neutral thing conducted by some invisible just hand.

The Nazis when they hear the "Do we do the holocaust?" vote failed to pass: Oh dang! Maybe next election we can try again.

What do you mean scolding people not voting for a 90 year old corpse doesn't work? 😭😭
