Why you gotta post this as I'm getting ready for work on Monday =/

laughs in service industry

Monday is my Friday!

Muahahahaha

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So true. It's also my "friday" 🎉

[–] Thebular@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Same, but then Tuesday is my "Sunday"

But what about the day off you learn about early enough to go back to bed? Snow days, forgotten/misremembered holidays, power outage at work, etc

Those are the sweetest days. It's like you won a free day off.

I don't get those 😥

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

I remember calling the snow line for CFB Halifax. I swear whoever does the recording on potential snow days pauses for like twenty seconds between 'base facilities are' and 'closed' or 'open'.

Then there's nothing worse than the night of the day off, knowing you're back in tomorrow 😩

[–] Beth@piefed.social 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Teachers call this Sunday Scaries.

[–] MrBackwardsCap@fedinsfw.app 7 points 2 days ago (3 children)

That's a new one to me, but what if you've had the Monday off too? Monday Moans? Tuesday Terrors? Wednesday... Im stuck on Wednesday 🤔

That'll do, thatll do indeed

[–] poinck@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Thursday throwup?

[–] Beth@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’ve heard Wacky Wednesday much like the book.

[–] MrBackwardsCap@fedinsfw.app 2 points 1 day ago

Another great suggestion. I think Wednesday is sorted 👌

Wednesday woes

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It’s not like they are the only ones who work on Monday 🤷

[–] machine2918@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

No shit Sherlock

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago

"I don't have to do shit tomorrow" is where it's at.

I mean yeah, a day off from work is not a day off from chores... But those are a futur me problem :^)

[–] mech@feddit.org 7 points 2 days ago

Cause you have the night off.

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Man nothing like it. Staying up as long as I can is my favorite pastime.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Yeah I love staying up all night and into the morning. Then I sleep all day and wake up in the lte evening, when I’m supposed to be going to sleep for work the next day, and then everything sucks.

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Waking up after Friday plans feels so good because you have a whole weekend after your weekend!

[–] Saapas@piefed.zip 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Depends on how tiring the day was

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Even getting back late from a business trip, the first night (or whatevers hours are left) are the best part
I'm happy to be at home and I'm finished for the day

The days afterwards can even be kinda work free (only doing minor things like accounting and stupid shit like that), but if the stress falls away, I'm usually getting sick and the body demands it's time to recover
First night though is one of celebration

[–] Saapas@piefed.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm talking tiring physically, doing manual labour and such in addition to just being tired tired. Don't get to enjoy the first night much if it is lights out once you get home

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

My business trips aren't that fancy

I am physically exhausted after spending some weeks, practically without a free day, in a fucking warehouse

I'm always just so happy to be home again and have all the stuff I've wanted to do, that I dreamed up during suffering on site.
But I'm too exhausted to actually do anything...

Still, the first night is always the best

Came home last time, after working with a fever/flu again, and just wanted to drop dead.
But the euphoria of being home again keeps me going for the first night.
Which pretty much means, I'll have a few beers and talk with my wife.
Can't do anything reasonable, but I really enjoy those few hours

[–] Hiro8811@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That's what Giacomo Leopardi realised too, but his philosophy is less known than his works.

[–] mcqtom@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I work nights...

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The opposite of this happened for me on Saturday. I thought I turned my 7am alarm off... until I woke up with a start and confusion. Although I was glad I didn't have to go anywhere, I couldn't go back to sleep.... so I napped in the afternoon, which was good stuff.

[–] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago

haha. I woke up one day at 8 (pm) on the couch. it was still light out so I figured I had overslept.
called my boss in a panic, he no pick up.
txted him saying I'd be in soon as I could (45 min commute).
10 mins later I was more awake and realized my mistake I said 'nm I'll see you tomorrow'.
in my defense I was looking at an analog clock on the wall.
next day he said in the break room 'oh someone went by the coffeeshop after work yesterday'

yeh I didn't hear the end of that one for months
