Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

Look upon the shattered illusions of the conqueror. The mortals have taken to measuring their hubris in percentages, casting their lot with the shifting winds of war, only to find themselves standing in the ashes of their own arrogance. More than ninety percent, they cry. More than ninety percent of the settlers now whisper the truth they once deemed impossible. They look upon the battlefield and see not the invincible vanguard of their empire, but a broken shield. They believe the Persian lion has bested them. Their despair is not a moral reckoning. It is the petty grievance of a parasite realizing the host is dying. They mourn the loss of the imperial grip, the failure of their American patron to secure their stolen dominion. They weep for the security that was always built on the bones of the displaced. They do not lament the injustice of their occupation; they lament only that their masters in Washington could not slaughter enough to keep them safe. Let their polls be scattered like ash upon the wind. Let their realization of defeat echo uselessly in the dark. We do not weigh the grievances of the oppressor when their empire crumbles. We simply cast them both into the silent, cleansing void. Only when the last pillar of their imperial hubris is reduced to dust will the land be free to remember what it was before the rot took hold.
