“There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part; you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!” — Mario Savio, 1964

I'm sure everything is above board and nobody is colluding to step on the necks of the rest of us plebs.

Thanks! Nice website link.

A trove of internal records from a secret society for powerful figures in US politics, finance, and tech was left exposed online, naming participants in its events and revealing sensitive personal details they were assured would stay private

It goes to show website designers can't follow basic security design protocol even when serving the owner class. We can't correct for general stupidity.

I mean, have you seen the trends these assholes are pushing. It was probably vibe coded.

So if I'm getting this right, dialog was founded in 2006 and have had it's member list be a secret up until now, where someone discovered an open directory listed in their website's source code.

I know these are idiotic nepo babies we're talking about, but this isn't exactly some random dude's vibecoded slop website. Am I crazy for thinking this was deliberate?

Am I crazy for thinking this was deliberate?

Yes. This is the "my enemy never makes mistakes" reasoning of conspiracy theorists.

[–] welfare_wizard@lemmy.zip 1 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

Idk man, with all the shit going on it wouldn't surprise me if they needed more fuel for the media distraction circus or something. But sure, they could have just vibecoded without double checking, who knows.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Yes. People massively fuck up all the time just to create a "media circus". As though Peter Thiel would have any trouble doing that in any other way.

Jesus, do you hear yourself?

[–] welfare_wizard@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

Peter Thiel probably isn't the only one with access, but still, it was only an example, with all the rich pedophiles being blackmailed nothing surprises me anymore.

Anyway, I'm done arguing here, I only come here to shitpost while on the toilet.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

this isn’t exactly some random dude’s vibecoded slop website

It absolutely could be.

Am I crazy for thinking this was deliberate?

Does Peter Thiel have enemies? Is there something to be gained by making this information public? Absolutely.

Is the information out here because this super secret society didn't trust anyone with basic experience to build a proper website? :-/

Bro. He has 8 billion enemies...

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 69 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So Peter Thiel is picking up where Epstien left off?

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 3 points 16 hours ago

Oh look. Stanford.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

Damn. Reminder that epstein more than likely had boys that he trafficked.

Politics, culture and economics were frequent topics of discussion between the two men. Other messages outlined plans to meet with Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, film director Woody Allen, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and former Secretary of State Bill Burns, among others.

The two also met with several CEOs for dinner in Palo Alto in Aug. 2015, which Epstein described as “wild,” including Zuckerberg, Musk, Reid Hoffman ’90, Joi Ito and Ed Boyden Ph.D. ’05.

Palantir is the new Epstein

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Elon is the modern Epstein. Palantir is going to be some kind of insane new thing that haunts us for generations.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

I bet those in espionage already knew this feels less like a leak and more so going public indirectly

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 25 points 1 day ago

I mean, also guillotines

Pretty easy to get a boat within 500 yards of the Venetian Isles / Rivo Alto coastline via Biscayne Bay. Just saying.
