Cross-posted from "Tesla in autopilot crashed into Texas home, killing one" by @Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone in !usnews@beehaw.org

The police reported that the Model 3 "failed to drive in a single lane, left the roadway and struck the residence" at a "high rate of speed." The crash involved a woman, Martha Avila, who was inside the house. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead "due to injuries she sustained from the crash," police said. The police release said there were "no signs of intoxication" from the driver, who was also cooperative during the investigation.

The dumbest thing is that you can’t even use cruise control on a Tesla without it suddenly breaking for no reason, due to their shitty camera-only distance detection.

Their “autopilot” bullshit made everything worse.

I think you meant "suddenly braking" rather than "suddenly breaking" but since it's Tesla I'm not 100% sure.

The best kind of misspelling

And zero consequences.

New phobia unlocked. Thanks, Tesla!

Self driving cars are such a boring, lame empty vision of the future.

My boring but not lame vision for the future is one where everyone's needs are met and they have opportunities to thrive while still getting plenty of time to enjoy hobbies and seeing their loved ones.

Also trains.

Trains with proper guardrails, unlike the Florida Death Train

I think people give the Brightline too much shit, it's hard to engineer train safeties sufficient to stand up to Florida man and woman, and for the rest, well... getting hit by the train can be the fastest way out of Florida, when you really want out.

Florida Death Train sounds like a Halloween theme park or a Scary movie.

This being has descended! May reality be reformed by their vision.
