I agree. I also wish there were more communist youtubers who made videos not about theory but just about their hobbies, with a communist undertone
Comradeship // Freechat
Talk about whatever, respecting the rules established by Lemmygrad. Failing to comply with the rules will grant you a few warnings, insisting on breaking them will grant you a beautiful shiny banwall.
A community for comrades to chat and talk about whatever doesn't fit other communities
While not explicitly communist, YouTubers like SheevTalks are fairly interesting if you enjoy nerdy media and media analysis.
While the gamergate era grifters overwhelmingly turned right wing, a few turned left and I cannot understate how refreshing the feeling is of hearing a sensible analysis of capitalist slop without fascists screeching about minorities.
In the example of SheevTalks, he deconstructs and analyzes corporatized nerd properties like Star Wars, but there’s an underlying understanding that the failure of modern nerd works is that capitalism is inherently incapable of producing artistic works without turning said works into lowest common denominator commodities. Definitely a breath of fresh air from the other sloptubers pointing fingers at minorities and China.
Claiming that attempting to appeal to the “masses” is the same as aiming for the "lowest common denominator" is extremely elitist.

There is zero difference between this and Nietszche’s criticism of culture/art and modern society.
To be honest, I'm surprised YT hasn't blocked leftist content creators, and wonder if it's not for nefarious purposes, given the parent company's origin and track record.
They don’t need to block them if the algorithm shadow bans them.
And it also deflects by saying "the videos are available, we are not biased and don't censor anything for politcal reasons. Not our fault the content isn't popular"
Far more effective as a propaganda tool. And disputing that claim also requires harder evidence and more effort to not look like a “loonie”.
YT also silently unsubscribes people from some channels. I noticed this after I had to hit the subscribe button multiple times for a few content creators and heard some people saying the same.
Yeah, I've noticed this with even very popular content creators.
i get lady izahar and luna oi/noncompete and black liberation media among others in my feed.
I get them and the weird Communism with Yuri guy who makes “whacko soviet union things” shorts.
Good point.
I've actually considered starting a YT channel myself at some point. Content would be whatever I'm feeling at that moment and not anything specific; one video could be Marxist theory, another could be the history of some ancient culture I happen to have an autistic fascination with, another could be a review of a video game - y'know, just whatever I'm feeling at the moment.
I won't be doing this anytime soon as I have to resolve some gender dysphoria stuff first before I'm willing to put my face on camera but it's on my to-do list. I feel like video essays are a better medium for talking about things than blogposts, at least for me with my ADHD and autism.
I was bummed when second thought went from cool science videos to basically all political videos. They’re well produced but less interesting to me personally.
this is especially true if you have an artisan hobby
I tried looking for communist/socialist podcasts recently and exclusively found people talking about theory and history and very little about current organisation efforts.
same ;-;
