Really wish the media would just ignore this pair.

Why is this "World news". Fuck this man, I don't need to hear anything about him.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago

Pretty sure he has the money to hire his own security.

“I don’t want to be royalty any longer, it’s gauche, I just want all the benefits that royalty get.”

Fuck your entire lineage.

He could just like, offer to pay for protection

[–] SpontaneousCombustion@lemmy.world 31 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

He could.

But a life of entitlement conditions him to getting everything he wants, for free.

Since he left the Royal “firm”, he’s finding life on the outside isn’t as easy.

To be fair, it's nothing he did that makes him a target for criminals. It's the fault of the UK making him a famous child and now-remotely possible future head of state, so the UK should probably restore balance by keeping him safe while here.

Well, according to the article they're "looking at all available options". It seems the major part of this is that the decision to not provide that taxpayer funded security came very late in the planning stages, so now they're scrambling to figure out other options.

It may just mean a postponed trip, but as this one was based on external events (Invictus Games, per the article) the reason for the visit may not longer exist.

funny

when they are civilians suddenly being in their own country is unliveable without a private military

I wish the worldwide media would decline reporting anything to do with those two.

Fair enough. He's not a working royal, why should they pay for his protection?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Because the association is the cause. This isn't something he's done himself.

Does he need it? As long as he stays with family there will be security.
