Not taking anything away from the fact that this is a real news story and the guy is a corrupt tool, but I’m getting tired of how much of the internet has become “Here’s a screenshot of a random claim being made by people you’ve never heard of on a website site that doesn’t deserve anyone’s attention, and also here’s someone telling you how to feel about it.”

Good comment

It's by design. The corruption encourages the corrupt to keep themselves and their enablers in power no mater what. There is no way trump is leaving office peacefully!

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's also demoralizing. Like with Russia and other highly corrupt countries, the average person sees all this and ignores the corruption at their local level, while saying "well that's just how things work here".

trump did learn form the best, putins russia.

I feel bad for the kids.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 6 points 2 days ago

I can't wait until he leaves office unpeacefully.

Yeah. Mike Johnson openly admitted he is protecting them.

This is how organized crime works. Everyone is dirty, so everyone supports the organization for self-preservation. Anyone who steps out of line gets thrown under the bus. The mob doesn't trust anyone they don't have dirt on.

The mob doesn’t trust anyone they don’t have dirt on.

Which makes it fragile as fuck despite how efficient it may appear.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 8 points 2 days ago

The mob only appears efficient if you don't mind a whole lot of extra-judicial murder.

The three Trump Cs: chaos, cruelty, corruption.

[–] maturelemontree@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Make that four: child molestation

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Might as well include five:
chaos, cruelty, corruption, child molestation, and 34 felony counts.

i didn't expect the bloody trump administration

You could almost sing that to "12 Days of Christmas"

As someone from an ex Soviet country, they are all like this. Everything is favors and corruption.

Who is “everybody” in your book? Patel isn’t ex-Soviet.

Learn to read.

I mean, have you seen Kash's credentials? He was literally hired to be opaquely and unapologetically corrupt.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Don't forget "always looking like a terrified cartoon frog." He was the right pick, and really stepped into the role and is doing his own thing with it. I don't think people are giving him his due credit there.

It's been normalized for about two and a half centuries, now.
