TLDR Health Canada > CDC+FDA. Don't eat American produce if you don't wanna poop your pants.

By February 2026, USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service had lost 913 staff, while the Food and Nutrition Service lost 564. The agency’s National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection was also axed. All told, more than 20,000 workers left USDA last year.

Cyclosporiasis is caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis, a single-celled parasite that lives exclusively in humans and causes particularly violent and long-lasting diarrhea. Infection is almost always through ingesting food or water contaminated with feces containing cyclospora oocysts; these take many days to become infectious, so person-to-person transmission is very unlikely.

In an American context, cyclosporiasis outbreaks are almost always caused by improper sanitation at farms or food processing facilities. Farmers around the world routinely refuse to provide adequate toilet or handwashing facilities for their workers if they think they can get away with it, to save money.

PS:

IMO we're going to see quality control issues in every single American export. I would be extremely wary of using medications or medical devices produced in the USA. With no government entities enforcing regulations we have to assume corners will be cut at the expense of quality and safety.

Especially mushrooms

The problem with all of this, is that the average Trump voter is too stupid to make the connection between Trump's policy decisions, and their painfully obvious outcomes.

[–] Canajan@piefed.ca 2 points 10 hours ago

Let the stupid shit themselves to death, bunch of twats.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

They poop their pants anyway, what’s the issue with pooping their pants a little more?

Then let Natural Selection do its thing and call it a day...

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 13 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

I wish.

Natural Selection == Idiocracy

Not after a few weeks of explosive diarrhea treated with ivermectin and essential oils

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 3 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

lol essential oils.

Kay ivermectime at least makes some sense given this is an intestinal bacterium and not a respiratory virus. But ya fully agree

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

well ivermectine deals with parasites, I believe Trump's Diarrhea is caused by Cyclosporiasis which is a parasite so that may actually help...

[–] GrackleBirb@lemmy.ca 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

No cyclosporiasis is a parasite of protozoan origin like giardia but unlike giardiasis is not susceptible to metronidazole but does respond to trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole AKA Bactrim. Ivermectin is an antihelmintic so it does not work on protozoan infections.

As a former pharmacist turned tech professional I agree completely.

Don't be a bigoted fuckhead like the Trumpers.

[–] jesusactuallyhateshorses@sh.itjust.works 6 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

Sorry internet person. The yanks had their chances. Many of them. They chose this. Trump is a symptom.

If facts make you want to label me a "bigoted fuckhead", so be it.

But I don't think you know what bigoted means.

Isn't this you?

"Asking a true southerner to think is like asking water to perform advanced calculus."

Edit: Jebus. Based on your comment history, you have no business calling anyone else a bigot.

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 1 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I did not chose this. I voted for Kamala, and Biden, and Clinton, and Obama. I don't have control over the choices other people make.

The OP said "Average", not "All".

You are still accountable for things that you don't have control over. Welcome to democracy when it's not working well

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 10 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

It's what happens when you DOGE away all food safety and environmental checks.

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 5 points 16 hours ago

Shit hits the fan

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 12 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I guess we can use the acronym TDS to mean Trumpy Diarrhea Syndrome now.

I don't need screwworms or intestinal parasites in my food, thank you very much.

"man, all that taco bell made me go take a sloppy trump"

[–] RoquetteQueen@sh.itjust.works 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm so glad I've been boycotting American produce. It wasn't just because Trump was threatening us. With all his deregulating, I was waiting for something like this to happen.

[–] melfie@lemmy.zip 1 points 33 minutes ago

All the produce drowning in glyphosate is reason enough.

[–] ekZepp@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

If he had to daily shit his pant, then EVERYONE had to shit their pants as well!!!
