An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

Had never thought of it like that but yes it does a wonderful job at this

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 17 points 13 hours ago

This comment is exactly the kind of dull content I’m here for.

docker compose down

(I just realized that this is the dull men’s club, and I am not a men’s. I’ll delete if this is inappropriate)

I encourage everyone to use !Dullsters@dullsters.net, but I realize that's a losing battle. 😅

I'm a man and I accidentally commented on women's stuff just like you here. I'm mostly here to have a good time or to find information and your comment made me chuckle. Be my guest 💖

And maybe we should docker container prune as well, just too be sure?

Dullness trumps gender, so you're good

Dullness supremacy!

[–] vrek@programming.dev 11 points 11 hours ago

I don't believe they are strict with that stuff here like woman's stuff is.

[–] BartyDeCanter@piefed.social 4 points 11 hours ago

Dullards of all genders are welcome here. Just don’t be too excited.

do you live in a shipping container?

[–] philanthropicoctopus@thelemmy.club 22 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Surprisingly I live in a normal house but my in laws are incapable of downsizing, instead opting to throw another shipping container on the driveway when they get more stuff

[–] imeansurewhynot@sh.itjust.works 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

oh wow, that sounds unpleasant!

[–] philanthropicoctopus@thelemmy.club 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It is. Its caused me a great deal of stress over the last 2 years but I've found the best solution is to realize its out of my control and just be a good man for my partner and a good father for my daughter. No point losing sleep over things out of my control. Easier said than done sometimes

[–] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

I admire your priorities, although you may want to consider that your daughter is learning that this is normal and okay, which it is not. 😬

Very fair point. I live in residential with hoarders

[–] schmorpel@slrpnk.net 12 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

No no you got it wrong. The way to measure life quality in your city was whether you could see three *trees *from your window, not three shipping containers. Easy to confuse, I know.

I sure did mess this one haha

My in laws are hoarders are haven't gotten rid of anything in 20 years.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 hours ago

But the shipping containers are creatures of the sea, so also inspiring like trees.

[–] linuxguy@piefed.ca 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like a good story. Why?

I live with hoarders

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Haha, yeah its like a junk yard here

[–] SnailMagnitude@mander.xyz 5 points 13 hours ago

I'd be sourcing a crate or 3, a broken cctv camera and a few airsoft guns asap.

[–] mavu@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 hours ago

should be careful, it's probably illegal to live in a shipping container on the harbor premises.
