People with no other talents, who just want money.

I mean fuck, it's a family of yatch girls.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 83 points 11 hours ago

Because the only thing that garbage family cares about is money?

[–] Nelots@piefed.zip 39 points 9 hours ago

I wonder why?

[–] japemasterBrad@programming.dev 41 points 10 hours ago

Money is the reason

Celebrities live in a world totally divorced from reality, humanity, or consequences.

This is always the answer.

because they get paid...?

Is it hard to understand for some people that "influencer" is a job title that actually hides very little of the day to day business they do.

They have already sold out by definition so their fans won't care if they attach their name to capitalist surveillance tech.

[–] OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

I mean, along with being complete sell outs, I think they are also just creepy people as well.

They fit the smart glasses personality.

What I want to know is: if you've got a product that has been market tested and proven for a decade to be creepy, why do you pick a celebrity with a creepy dad to promote it? Are they just trying to own that sliver of market share that doesn't care?

Is it really that hard to see why people like Kylie Jenner would like this tech? Taking videos from your exact POV is appealing. They dont think or care about the privacy aspects and are likely already completely brought into a world of Meta/google/apple tendrils in every part of their life.

I worry about the author's capability to perform basic functions if this is a legitimate question of his.

Doesn't even have to be extreme if you don't understand the risks.

I mean they are giant dorky looking I'm a pervert glasses. They are gonna fail. Dudes are gonna realize that they are creepy and announcing themselves as creepy by wearing them. Take their money.

I’m annoyed that Ninajirachi licensed one of her songs for the ads. That sounds like the Holly-Herndon-shilling-NFTs of the 2020s.

that whole family is off-the-rails, but with her reach, she could do a lot of good... but instead, this.
