I got to go snorkeling at a retired oil rig once long ago, and it was pretty similar to this. The area of the Gulf of Mexico is mostly a ocean desert due to all the shrimp boats scraping the bottom for years, but the oil rig legs were a lively artificial reef with lots of fish. I even saw a barracuda and a sea turtle while out there in the water. Imagine if the design of these kinds of structures factored in this ecological potential from the beginning.

Pretty cool to see positive influence from people on their environment. Like beaver dams producing still water for their environment
