Tomorrow I'm going to get an ultrasound to see if there is something wrong with my thyroid.

Truth is, I am somewhat afraid.

And so it goes.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Best wishes for a good result!!

Thank you ❀️

Thyroids are temperamental bastards! Mine crashed in pregnancy 13 years ago and hasn't worked properly since. I've been stable on thyroxine for the most part, but when I was too low I developed a nodule, which i was convinced was cancer. It wasn't, and a dose increase reduced the nodule again. The ultrasound can be a bit uncomfortable with rhe pressure but I'm sure yours will be good.

Thank you for sharing, that makes this whole thing less frightening ❀️

Thyroid is pretty good as far as health issue go. It's superficial so no deep surgery if it goes that way. If it's just a bit funky you can take Thyroxine? (T3/T4 hormone IIRC) which is cheap on the PBS. Finally better to know than not so you can deal with it appropriately.

You're right, it is better to know. Thanks man ❀️

I had to get one of those when I got my cancer diagnosis. They were looking for nodules on the parathyroid glands. A bit uncomfortable, but not terrifying. The tech who did the test was really good at explaining.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We're back home now and the cyst is finally out. My girlfriend has a half cast on for a week and we hope that will be the end of it

Girlfriend's wrist operation today. She developed a cyst in her left wrist that's been painful for her over a year ago now. We've finally gotten to the stage where they'll do actual surgery and remove it. Let's hope this will be the end of it and she'll be better once she heals

I think my nail art practice went well

FOR THE HORDE! (soooo impressed by that one in particular!)

These are gorgeous! You've done an awesome job!!

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Same! It turned out way better than I expected tbh!

Thank you!! :3

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If my nails survive tomorrow, I will paint them something bright, glittery and cheerful. But I'm also thinking of cutting them in anticipation of tomorrow (lots of lifting and wrestling things at work tomorrow) and it turns out I'm like Catfish and don't love painting my nails when they're short.

... I'll keep them in hopes of bright!!

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

That makes sense! If you do paint them I'd love to seee

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

that looks so cool/cute , love it 😍

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago

Eeee thank you! :3

Inspired by Force, what's your perfect burrito? I'm a fan of spicy chicken, rice, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese and avocado. If I'm having a big feels day, some con queso to dip it into. There is to be absolutely no beans near my burrito, please and thank you.

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Carne asada, guac, and pico de gallo. That’s it.

I haven't had many burritos in my life but if I had to choose it would be a breakfast burrito.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Solid choice!! Bacon or chorizo?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago

Both together.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I don't really know enough about burritos to comment, a vegetarian one. I recently made TVP chilli which was awesome.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

You can get those Edgel tins of blackbeans with lime or salsa. One of those with a tub of 40 second rice gets you most of the way there. I'd also make a mix subbing refried beans for beef mince and I actually prefer it. Jackfruit is great too mixed with all the flavours for a burrito mix

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Niiiiice, that sounds yum!

My secret ingredient was "Liquid Smoke".

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

some chicken, lettuce, sour cream, salsa, tasty cheese

served with a side of spicy rice and lots of sour cream and salsa

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 4 days ago

Spicy rice on the side is a great choice!

What would be the title of your memoir? Mine would be "Well, That Didn't Go According To Plan (But It Still Worked Out)"

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

I cannot LOVE this more!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think I would use what my daughter says about me.

"Oh she's weird, but not in a bad way"

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Weird and wonderful!

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think mine would be 'Plan? What plan?". The follow up self-help book would be "The Untapped Power of Impulse Motivated Action".

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

That is an excellent power to wield!

[–] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"Well I wasn't born as a burrito, but I did get drowned in salsa"

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

Mm, salsa! This has brought up the mental image of just a bathtub full of nachos.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

"How a participation award and a gold star sticker in grade two changed my life".

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

I don't know. Depends who wrote it and what goes in.

it won't be called "My Struggle"

maybe "Saddam and my part in his downfall " ( to riff of spike milligan )

or My Life in Movies ...lol

I'm in need of some nice, relaxing music. Any recommendations?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Has anyone heard from Melbabouttown?
