The top three platforms used by scammers all belong to Meta: Facebook at 57%, Instagram at 22%, and WhatsApp at 8%
I'm a bit surprised YouTube isn't higher. I guess meta products are just spectacularly scummy.
Meta makes billions with it, so why would they block them?
Even worse, if a block request comes they go the scammer and ask for more money to leave it up.
And MAGA for neutering the FTC which was fighting against crypto scams.
The current administration has pretty much normalized that one.
Imagine if they put their money into taking care of themselves with healthcare instead.
It's 2026. Have people still not learned that everything on the internet is a scam?
People who are still using meta products might lean towards the demographic that isn't as educated on it. And the top 3 scam platforms according to the article are meta ones. Which either leans older or younger these days with them appearing to have the same level of tech literacy.
GenZ is actually even more likely to get scammed than boomers. So no, not only have they not learned, they've actively gotten worse.

The study does acknowledge some correlationary aspects as opposed to direct reasons, such as increased online presence, but still... It's real bad mama, it's real real bad with these youths.
