How does this look worse than Peter Jackson's King Kong (the official game of the movie), which came out 17 years ago?

Isn't that the norm with video games nowadays? Release now and worry about fixing bugs later? Lol

Yeah doesn't seem salvageable. King Kong on ps2 from 20 years ago looks and plays better by the looks of it.

I watch the Vinesauce video of Vinny playing the game. The damn thing looks like an alpha build. I could see developers showing this to the suits on top thinking it was a solid start and being told to ship it. The foundation of a good game is there but it is total shit otherwise. It would explain why there is a placeholder image in the middle of one of the cut scenes.

Well, the same suits from the publisher also decided Big Rigs was ok to release

I like the graphics because it reminds me of Transformers Beasties, I just wish it was for that IP

games like this are the type of game that my 6 year old nephew loves

he doesn't care about graphics and he doesn't care about story

[-] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

what does he care about, because the gameplay isn't there either on this one.

The weird thing is that all kids his age have some of the shittiest games as their favorites... Have you ever tried Five Nights At Freddy's?

Some people enjoy the security camera genre of games. Its just very niche though, as its sorta like a spinoff of tower defense.

[-] hydroel@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Is it bad? My half brothers (11 and 13) have watched tons of videos and won't stop talking about it, but I was never interested enough to pick it up.

[-] thisbenzingring 3 points 11 months ago

It's an experience, I guess. But I don't understand the appeal.

When you're a kid you just don't have the frame of reference to know that gameplay can get better than what you're having. I still remember the games that I played (and loved playing) when I was a kid got really shat on the reviews when I tried looking it up on the internet.
