Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Bears eating children, preachers cursing fig trees, women being turned to salt.

Illegal pop-up restaurant serving fish of dubious origin and wine without a liquor license

A single fish that keeps doubling each time you tear it in half and you're going to claim radiation isn't involved?

No it's not. It's what HE thinks is in the bible (spoiler, a lot of what he thinks is in there isn't).

Jesus and John Wayne is an excellent book that recounts, in considerable detail, how the evangelical movement became based on manliness instead of scripture.

Specifically how it got to the point where Der Gropenfurher is EXACTLY what America’s “evangelical religious” want. He is the symptom, not the cause.

I encourage everyone to read at least the first half of the Bible so you can see how fucking ape shit wacky that crap is

What a bold-faced lie. Nobody follows the Bible directly, especially not him.

[–] Vieric@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

In my youth I once did what this man is telling folks to do now, you know what it did? It made me want to stop people like him.

[–] dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 years ago

So you're a moron then?

[–] AgentGrimstone@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is he running for Worst Person Ever?

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 15 points 2 years ago

He's in the Republican party so yes. :P

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 11 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I just hope that enough people see all the crazy, and it motivates them to go fucking vote.

[–] TechyDad@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Sadly, the people that he's trying to appeal to will watch this and say "this guy gets it. Our country should be run as a Christian Theocracy like the Founding Fathers intended!"

(While, obviously, not knowing a single thing about the Founding Fathers.)

[–] Hairyblue@kbin.social 9 points 2 years ago

I hope the young people vote. I am old and always voted progressive or Democrat, but the country may become a Christian Nation unless enough people vote to stop it. It would be very hard to reverse this if it happened. Right now voting can stop it.

Good lord this is gonna be a wild ride.

I know everyone is up in arms about this but, to me, it just seems.... I dunno, kinda sad? Like, his whole existence has been substituted with a single old book?

There's no room to grow or change or learn. It's just, like, "Everything I am is written down over there and that's it."

How small and petty and sad.

[–] badaboomxx@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Pretty sure he hasn't.

What a dumbass. Fairy tales for Bronze Age sheepherders is no way to run a modern society. This asshat is an actual young Earth creationist.

So sick of these stupid snake handlers getting paid attention to AT ALL, much less calling the shots for the rest of us.
