With women's fashion, it's an easy one with pockets and for some probably less sheer/thin or tight-fitting clothing depending on their preferences, but for men...?

What would you like to see done differently in men's fashion?

Not fashion necessarily, but materials. Everything is 15%+ polyester now, which I absolutely despise. I don't care how stretchy it is, I don't want to wear sweaty fossil fuel derivatives that wear out twice as fast.

I'd definitely include materials in fashion, hence my mention of women's sheer/thinner clothing. Similar awkward materials issues for both, albeit in different ways!

Skirts and dresses being normalized. Softer fabrics. Less emphasis on oversized everything.

More varied sizes. I'm a tall guy who is also fat. But I'm not so fat as the clothes in my sizes think I am.

I'm a short skinny guy and have the same problem!

I'm a tall skinny guy and I have the same problem. Want a shirt that fits around the middle? Hope you like bellybutton shirts. Want a shirt that fits across the shoulders? Hope you like wearing a giant shapeless bag.

I'm mildly overweight, I'm slimming down, I've lost about 8kg in the last 2 months, just another 5 to go for where I want to be.
If I could change anything about men's fashion, it would be more leg lengths per waist size. I'm about 182cm tall, and my waist is about 91cm, my legs are actually pretty short....but not super short. I can get a 79cm leg, or a 71cm leg. 79 is too long, 71 too short. It's fuckin frustrating. I just want my trousers to fuckin fit properly......

Edit: Phone autoassumed leg to left....and they say AI is going to take over the world....

Congratz! You're doing a bit better than me. I'm down 14 kg in 4 month. Still 30 kg left to reach my goal of 110 kg.

We got this, bud! 14kg in 4 months ain't nothing to thumb your nose at.
Just keep at it!

More varied sizes indeed - I've got a 48" chest and a 36" waist with a 30" leg. Nothing fits properly.

This. I'm so done with black, blue and teal.

Two things I would do away with: animal cruelty and gendered fashion.

[-] illegalsmile@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago

Just more variety. Women have so many options for different styles and fits. Obviously nothing's stopping me from wearing whatever I want, but I'm not bold enough to lead that charge. I'd like more mainstream choices.

[-] EhForumUser@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

What would you like to eventually wear once the bold men make it mainstream?

[-] illegalsmile@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I don't know! I'm a trend follower that's my whole problem.

[-] vikingtons@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I need more stretchy jeans. A gusseted crotch would help a tonne as well. If you have thick legs you'll just blow em out in a matter if months and you're outta luck if you prefer fitted legwear.

[-] keeb420@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

My understanding of it. Currently it's zero and I could use some help. Apparently cargo shorts and tee shirts aren't it.

[-] emptyother@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Says who? If thats true then I've misunderstood something too. Wore that in my 20s. Nowadays I prefer chinos and overshirts.

[-] antony@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

Decorations on jeans. Women have them, but for men it's like it's not fashion but workwear. Overall menswear is too boring and 'safe' until hitting the upper stratosphere of designer wear, there's scant choice of patterns, shape, or materials - I'll find something that hits the nail on the head for one maybe, never all three. It's been many years since I bought something I love.

Sorry, it was a serious question... maybe no fashion would be best?

[-] ElectroVagrant@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Nudism, the final fashion choice.

[-] S_204@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Make Crocs acceptable to wear at all times. Is that really too much to ask?

I saw a guy wearing bright blue ones covered in charms not long ago while out for dinner at one of the top 100 places in the country and thought "ya, that guy looks comfy af, I bet he's loving this meal" and wanted to feel that way.

[-] zesty@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Be the change you want to see in the world :)

[-] S_204@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I'm working on it. My SO has thoughts about the plan. We're working on those too.

[-] lungdart@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Making a 27" inseam on a 32" waist standard.

[-] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Please. Just need lower inseams. I'm 6' and even a 30" looks baggy on me, but all I can find are 32" and over, lucky if I find a 30".

[-] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I made another comment, hadn't scrolled far enough to see yours. I'm a 38" waist, my options for leg are 31" or 28" my leg is like 29.75".....

[-] Rodeo@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago

I mean just hem it at that point. This is something that's easy to fix by yourself.

[-] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I leave the house at 4.50am, and I don't get home from work until 8.30pm. I literally have no time to hem my trousers.

Besides, the question was what would you change, that's what I would change.

[-] BloodForTheBloodGod@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Thin fabrics and skirts

[-] zesty@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago

Everyone wears the same thing, and it's something comfortable like a track suit. The less fashion that exists the better, both for the practicality and for the environment.

Jokes on you, everyone on lemmy are males, so you can just use !asklemmy@lemmy.ml But hopefully that changes eventually! Crosspost questions for men from there to here!
