Image is of Yemen seizing the first ship in its blockade of Israel (the Galaxy Leader) with a helicopter raid.

Alternate title: What If It Was The Bab El-Womandeb And It Was Just For The Ladies?

Ansarallah is a key component of the broader Resistance movement, backed by Iran, and has been a stalwart member in engineering the ongoing collapse of Zionism. It has steadily escalated both its rhetoric and, rarely nowadays, its actions, proving that the mythical "red line" might actually exist in the world after all, after going MIA in both Russia and China. It has been striking first Israel-owned ships heading through the Bab el-Mandeb - the strait that leads into the Red Sea and then to the Suez Canal - and, recently, has demonstrated its promise that any ships that intend to dock in Israel will be attacked. While this is really only half a blockade, the cost of going around Africa is significant, and Western insurance companies really don't like it when their ships get blasted by missiles and drones. Several shipping companies have already stated their intention to alter/stop shipping routes through the Red Sea, trying to prompt the West to find a "solution".

Despite US naval presence in the area, Yemen possesses the ability to strike the oil refining facilities of the Gulf monarchies, leaving the US in a very difficult position. If they attack Yemen, then not only do Western ships risk being attacked directly, but those oil refineries may go up in smoke depending on if they help the West - and global oil prices will skyrocket, in an already declining world economy - and it might cost several Western leaders their leadership positions, including Biden himself. A regional war could ultimately tumble into worldwide chaos.

Equally, however, the US cannot afford to lose Israel. It is the single most important American imperial outpost, perhaps alongside Taiwan. If Zionism is destroyed as a local destabilizing influence, then the Russia-China-Iran axis will find itself in a leadership position over the region. Israeli military losses in Gaza increase every single day as they advance further into the labyrinth death trap under the obligation to show some kind of military victory, with Hamas' strategy of attrition taking its toll. And Hezbollah sits there, having destroyed most of the border infrastructure, silently threatening the obliteration of Israel's infrastructure under the rain of a hundred thousand missiles.

As world attention gradually shifts away from the Gaza genocide, we continue to approach the brink.

It turns out that Gabon ship getting hit was actually the US getting scared at some $2k Yemeni reconnaissance drone and hitting the ship by mistake lmao. So, the US accidentally hit the ship and tried to pretend it was Yemen hitting an Indian ship in order to get India involved: https://nitter.cz/AryJeay/status/1738943576942215252

The fact is, the Soviet ancestors have proven themselves most worthy, as their legacy systems continue to outperform everything on the battlefield today. This perhaps even extends to current Russian designs, as many things in modern day Russia are still inferior to their Soviet counterpart, not least of which being military command and leadership; but it’s all slowly getting there.

From the latest Simplicius article. I do not understand the right-wing mind. Like how do you realize that this is true and not think that there was maybe something about the way the Soviets were doing things thst was better.

It seems that Milei has ordered public transport to stop today. He really doesn't want people to protest, but that will only delay the protest, not stop it.

The situation will get worse very soon, and I doubt that the police and military forces will be on Milei's side when he stops paying them.

Argentinian Congress at 2AM, people are getting more and more frustrated with the current government. I honestly didn't expect this kind of reaction so soon, almost the entire city of Buenos Aires erupted in protest mere minutes after milei's announcement of total economic deregulation.

Javier Milei outlines chainsaw deregulation plan for Argentina’s economy. The President plans to strike down or modify at least 300 pieces of “collectivist” legislation that he claims have “impeded, hindered an stopped” the country’s growth. . Pay close attention to the language he uses, apart from average neoliberal bullshit like "state persecution of businesses", he uses the word "collectivist", cold-war era shit. He's stuck in cold war mentality.

Milei's top 30: Economic reforms outlined by president in speech. President Javier Milei outlines 30 key reforms he proposes to deliver in a sweeping reform blitz aimed at deregulating Argentina's economy and modifying labour and rent legislation.

Some very important shit in there. Some are already saying this is outright illegal, but he's willing to push through with it. A few things: Rent Law is extremely important, because it gives tenants some protection against landlords. Without this law, landlords can set the value of rent as high as they want and renting becomes a mere "negotiation in the free market" between two completely unequal actors.

The elimination of the Land Law is very important as well, this law establishes that only 15% of the total productive lands in the country can be owned by foreigners and only a maximum of 1,000 hectares can be owned by individuals or corporations. This means that now foreign capitals can buy immense territories for very cheap for "investment", like they did under the presidency of Roca with almost the entire Patagonia in the late 19th Century. This goes in hand with the amendments done to the Firefighting Law, which deregulates it. Yes, he wants to deregulate firefighting. Maybe huge swaths of land can be set on fire on purpose, then declared "useless" by the state and sold for very cheap to some oil billionaire...

Labour reforms are pure neoliberalism: no indemnizations to fired workers, restricted strike rights and "test periods" for new workers goes from three months to eight months, which means people can get employed for eight months, fired and nothing will happen to the employers. The "test period" is basically when you work without a proper contract, and few rights.

All state companies and assets will be privatised, but first they will be converted into S.A.'s.

Healthcare will have no price controls, they can set it to whatever they want. Football clubs are now free to privatise: For the most part, football clubs in Argentina are owned by their own fans who pay a monthly subscription to the club's facilities and services, these fans also have a right to elect their representatives within the club, thus creating a (somewhat) democratic system. Football clubs in some countries of Europe, like England, are privately owned and operated as mere corporations, they hold no elections because they have no democratic institutions, see Manchester United or Manchester City, owned by big capitals from the US and UAE respectively. He wants to do away with this, because privatisation is a doctrine that is to be applied to EVERY aspect of society.

And more. But it's not all defeats after defeats. Today we were victorious against their "security protocol" as protests and blockades took place all around the country, and yours truly was involved in organizing some protesting. More on that tomorrow.

Tough months ahead. January and February are going to be incredibly hard. But we must count on our strenghts and our knowledge for today I saw people uniting and chanting together, even people who voted for milei and immediately felt betrayed. It's okay, they are victims too. We will find ways and mechanisms to survive and create solidarity. Capitalism is dying and we refuse to die with it.

St. Louis Police Crash Into LGBTQ Bar, Arrest Its Owner

The Reddit thread, if you care.

Full TextLast night around 12:30 a.m. a St. Louis police cruiser smashed into the front window of an LGBTQ bar in Carondelet. But it was Bar:PM’s co-owner who wound up getting arrested and is currently being held in central booking.

"There were several police officers that jumped him,” says James Pence, who co-owns Bar:PM with Chad Wick, who is currently in police custody.

Pence says the police officer who ran into the bar told him that he had swerved to miss a dog in the middle of South Broadway. Pence says he does have security camera footage of the crash, though he is not making it public at this time.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment this morning. We'll update this post if we hear back.

Pence, who lives above the bar, says that he was getting ready to head to bed as two other people closed up for the night. Suddenly, he felt the whole building shake and ran downstairs.

He came down to find the police SUV in his building and an officer demanding to see his identification.

Pence says he replied: "No you don't. That's a police cruiser in my building. You don't need to see my ID. This is not how this works."

Pence says he was spun around and placed in handcuffs.

Pence’s co-owner, Wick, was taking videos and photos of the police vehicle when, according to Pence, "Three of them (officers) went for him. He raised his arm and they said he hit them."

Pence was eventually taken out of cuffs, but Wick was taken away by police.

In addition to cleaning up the damage, Pence spent much of this morning trying to locate Wick. He later found out that Wick had been taken to the South Patrol police station, then SLU Hospital for medical attention. He was then taken to the North Patrol and finally, around 9 a.m., was at Central Booking.

Wick, whose legal name is Chad Morris, was later charged with felony assault. (See details here.)

Pence spoke to the RFT as a group of friends and regulars gathered at Bar:PM, which is located at 7109 South Broadway, to help clean up and show support for the owners.

Others who were there at the time of the incident say that no medical services or ambulances were ever called to the scene.

This is the second high-profile crash involving a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department car in a week. Last Tuesday, a police SUV and another vehicle both ran a stop sign at North Sarah and St. Louis Avenue. The police cruiser ended up being flipped over outside a business located at the intersection.

The mother of hostage killed by IDF, to the soldiers who shot her son: 'We are not judging you, it is no one's fault but Hamas'

Iris Haim, the mother of Yotam Haim, one of the three hostages who was mistakenly killed by IDF, said in the recording that was given to the soldiers who shot her son that none of the family members is judging them, and that the shooting they carried out "was probably the right thing, at that moment."

"I wanted to say that I love you very much, and that I'm hugging you here from afar, and I know that everything that happened is not your fault at all, and no one's fault except for Hamas," she said.

"Don't hesitate for one moment if you see a terrorist, don't think that you killed a hostage on purpose, you need to protect yourself because that's the only way you can protect us," Haim added.

NYT - Israel Bombed Areas Where It Ordered Gaza Civilians to Go, Evidence Shows

link to video investigation

During the first six weeks of the war in Gaza, Israel routinely used one of its biggest and most destructive bombs in areas it designated safe for civilians, according to an analysis of visual evidence by The New York Times.

The video investigation focuses on the use of 2,000-pound bombs in an area of southern Gaza where Israel had ordered civilians to move for safety. While bombs of that size are used by several Western militaries, munitions experts say they are almost never dropped by U.S. forces in densely populated areas anymore.

Someone help me understand. So Biden just pardoned a bunch of people who never had issues with the law? Like this pardon isn’t even rollable to the future lol. How is this any different than “ungrounding” your child because he broke a vase in the past, but you never had any evidence or suspicion of him doing so and he never admitted to it either?

No one was freed from prison under last year’s action, but the pardons were meant to help thousands overcome obstacles to renting a home or finding a job. Similarly, no federal prisoners are eligible for release as a result of Friday’s pardon.

This is fucking stupid lol. I’m not surprised only liberals are gushing about this

So let me get this straight. It pardons your federal charges so you’re no longer a felon. Great. But it doesn’t cover any state level charges. So if they pull up your state record and it says you’ve been arrested for cannabis, wouldn’t the natural conclusion be “he’s also probably a former felon?”

Bill Maher: In Search of a Nun

An undergraduate at Harvard rang me up yesterday. He's trying to organize a debate on Gaza. The problem is, no faculty at Harvard is willing to debate me. Imagine!

Here I am, a lowly academic who couldn't even get tenure at a subpar college, yet everyone at Harvard is terrified of matching wits with me. It's quite the sight these days.

The mighty Israel Defense Forces shoot dead in broad daylight women taking refuge in a church and bare-chested civilians carrying white flags. So brave! And then there are the cheerleaders here at home.

Macho Ben Shapiro in his Top Gun Tom Cruise visors cowering in a corner, pissing in his pants, at the prospect of debating me.

And lest I forget, that little shit, Bill Maher, donning horn-rimmed glasses as if he's a learned scholar and not Joy Behar--the only difference being she reads the prepackaged factoids off index cards and he off a teleprompter.

Lately, Mr. Maher has been wowing his loser audience with his sweeping knowledge of the rise and fall of empires.

Gee whiz, Mr. Maher, if you know so much, debating me should be like shooting fish in a barrel. So, why not invite me on your program? If things get too rough, you can always steal a page from your heroic IDF and use a nun as a human shield.

Is it a valid currency? No, well I don't know actually, everything is possible in the Anarcho Capitalist wonderland. Here's my payment, landlord, I know it looks like a cum jar but it's actually money.

The translation contains an error, instead of "steer" it should say calf. You can pay your contracts in meat, maybe with organs as well, knowing milei is in favour of selling organs.

But WAIT! There's MORE!

VTV is basically a thorough check that is made to all vehicles every year or so, it must pass in order to be street-legal. That also goes away. What's next? Eliminating driver licenses? (one of the biggest enemies of anarchocapitalists)

I'm beginning to think these people are the real deal lol, they really believe in this shit. We are becoming an experiment and also a meme.

Imperialist politico

"The way the [Yemenis] operate raises challenges for Western naval forces, as they’re fending off cheap drones with ultra-expensive equipment.

Aster 15 surface-to-air missiles — the ones fired by the French Languedoc frigate — are estimated to cost more than €1 million each while Iran-made Shahed-type drones, likely used by the [Yemenis], cost barely $20,000.

“When you kill a Shahed with an Aster, it’s really the Shahed that has killed the Aster,” France’s chief of defense staff, General Thierry Burkhard, said at a conference in Paris earlier this month.

However, if the Shahed hits a commercial vessel or a warship, the cost would be a lot higher."

It feels like we are teetering on the edge and we could drop any moment. All US military assets in the entire Pacific turned off their public radar transponders last night. 3 carrier groups at least congregating in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Reportedly tons of sensitive air assets have been moved into neighboring airbases. Immense pressure on the US military by global capital to restore freedom of movement in the Red Sea that's building more and more by the hour as global traffic gets backed up or re-routed.

The US either has to strike Yemen, or they have to buckle and yank Israel out of Gaza and enforce a ceasefire. One or the other pretty much has to happen in the next week or two. Which way will America choose? Ceasefire and 0 middle eastern hot wars or 2 hot wars at once?

America thinks it can scare ansar allah into submission and going away quietly with a show of force, but I don't see them backing down or stopping their attacks just because there's 3 carriers around them instead of 2.

I expect "Operation Prosperity Guardian" to be really boring actually. Yemen shoots a few drones at the coalition fleet, the fleet intercepts them with 4x as many missiles worth enough money to end world hunger overnight. Maybe they drone strike an abandoned firing position or elementary school in retaliation like they normally do. Rearm and repeat for weeks. No warships sunk but also still too dangerous for merchant shipping. Half measures all around.

Though ansar Allah could have some clever plan or just score a lucky hit, in which case we may have some decades happen. But tying down three US carrier groups is impressive enough on its own.

Iranian Spy Ship Helps Houthis Direct Attacks on Red Sea Vessels

Iran’s paramilitary forces are providing real-time intelligence to Yemen’s Houthis that the rebels are using to direct drones and missiles to target ships passing through the Red Sea, Western and regional security officials said.

Tracking information gathered by a surveillance vessel controlled by Iran’s paramilitary forces in the Red Sea is passed to the Houthis, who have used it to attack commercial vessels passing through the Bab el-Mandeb strait in recent days, according to the officials.

...

Many vessels sailing in the strait have been switching off their radios to avoid being tracked online, but an Iranian vessel stationed in the Red Sea is enabling the Houthi drones and missiles to accurately target the ships, the officials said.

...

While the Houthis have said the attacks are in retaliation for Israel’s war in Gaza, the ships they have attacked have little or in some cases no links to Israel.

complete bullshit

...

Washington has told Israel to let the U.S. military respond to the Houthis instead of taking action that could expand its conflict with Hamas and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia, U.S. and other government officials said.

Biden Convinced Netanyahu to Halt a Pre-Emptive Strike Against Hezbollah

WASHINGTON—President Biden urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt a pre-emptive strike against Hezbollah forces in Lebanon days after Hamas militants’ Oct. 7 assault on southern Israel, warning that such an attack could spark a wider regional war.

Israel had intelligence—which the U.S. deemed unreliable—that Hezbollah attackers were preparing to cross the border as part of a multipronged attack, pushing some of Israel’s more hawkish officials to the brink, officials said.

Israeli warplanes were in the air awaiting orders when Biden spoke to Netanyahu on Oct. 11 and told the Israeli prime minister to stand down and think through the consequences of such an action, according to people familiar with the call.

The Israeli attack didn’t go ahead. And the conversation between Biden and other U.S. officials and Netanyahu and his war cabinet—the details of which haven’t been previously reported—set a pattern of White House efforts to guard against any expansion of the conflict that could draw in the U.S.

weird! I thought Israel was an independent country and Biden had no control over them.

I guess now that it's obvious how complicit the Biden regime is, we're going to keep getting these stories on how they 'advised caution' and wanted to prevent escalation or whatever

In response to the growing threat to commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Hong Kong-based shipping company OOCL has announced Sunday the ban of shipments to and from "Israel". According to Israeli media, the port of "Eilat" has also been completely disabled. OOCL's headquarters are in Hong Kong, and it has announced it will immediately end its shipment of Israeli goods whether imported or exported to all destinations. In a statement published on its website, the company wrote “Due to operational issues, OOCL will stop cargo acceptance to and from Israel with immediate effect until further notice."

OOCL, welcome to the Resistance. Glad to see at least some shipping companies are avoiding the capital strike by stopping all cargo going through the Red Sea and instead are just stopping the handling of all goods to and from "Israel." Probably not a coincidence that the large shipping conglomerate who decides not to join the capital strike is based in Hong Kong. xi-lib-tears

I'm going through that super long Twitter thread on Yemen, and Ansarallah doesn't seem to be particularly "Islamist" at all. If anything, they come off as vaguely leftist or at least use terms that people would associate with socialist movements.

Their armed cells are called people's committees: https://nitter.cz/Aldanmarki/status/1736789365026689134

They have a government body called the Revolutionary Committee: https://nitter.cz/Aldanmarki/status/1736941102303793570

Nothing that this dude said would be out of place in a Chavez or Castro speech outside of referencing Yemen of course: https://nitter.cz/Aldanmarki/status/1736960165578977413

"Article 5: The Supreme Revolutionary Committee is the expression of the revolution and revolutionary committees derived therefrom shall be formed in the governorates and directorates throughout the Republic.": https://nitter.cz/Aldanmarki/status/1737007455605776554

Israel's pretext for slaughtering Palestinian civilians is the anticipated military advantage of targeting Hamas officials and fighters. The obsession with "eliminating" Hamas operatives is not just futile (only 8% of casualties have been combatants) but is also fanciful 1/

It rests on the myth that the highest-ranking military commanders and political leaders are indispensable. It assumes, in typical racist fashion, that the success of resistance movements rests on personality cults and presumes a scarcity of military skills and expertise 2/

Despite numerous assassinations of Hizbullah, Hamas and PIJ officials such as Abbas al-Musawi, Imad Mughineh, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, Yahya Ayyash, and Fathi Shaqaqi, among others, Israel's policy of extrajudicial killings has failed to hold back the development of these groups 3/

The ability of these groups to persevere under such conditions of adversity demonstrates the institutionalization of their military practices, methods, and doctrines, and showcases their institutional resilience. This negates any of Israel's claims of "military advantage" 4/

Ten Ways to Become a Stronger Comrade

As western communists in the 2020s, we find ourselves uniquely situated in time and space. For many, it is a time of high emotions and increasing revolutionary consciousness, but a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness has infected the hearts of many others. Have you felt that you have nothing material to contribute to the struggle? Instead of continuing to doom-scroll or fill your time with bourgeois distractions, here are ten concrete ways you can become a stronger comrade right now.

In order:

  1. Learn a new language, especially that of the largest minority group in your country (e.g. Spanish in the US).

  2. Learn first aid and CPR, as well as how to administer narcan.

  3. Meet your neighbours, whether knocking on their doors or leaving them a note to meet up at a third space, or leaving them a gift to construct goodwill.

  4. Join or start a reading group.

  5. Know where your closest community resources are.

  6. Brush up on protest safety, both physically and legally.

  7. Pay attention to local boycotts, lists of union-made goods, and BDS lists - don't cross picket lines.

  8. Volunteer in your community and join organizations.

  9. Learn history and theory.

  10. Actual self-care, like getting good sleep and touching grass, not whatever the hell neoliberals are calling self-care these days

Milei is abolishing the M-C-M' circuit of capitalism and replacing it with the C-C... exchange (of cum) in kind. This is basically communism.

"We dont negotiate with terrorists" one of the worst "principles" ever. Not negotiating because negotiating is unmanly or something.

Still cant believe they are calling it "Operation Prosperity Guardian." Its like they think working class people realise they mean "Operation protect private profits with public money." ...Oh right... western working class people are too deep in financial troubles to bother reading international news.
