Goodnight comrades, here's part of the code of conduct that i think about alot

Be aware of your own enjoyment of the site.

  • If you find yourself no longer having fun, do something else. There are many different comms on Hexbear, and many different ways to shitpost and have fun.
  • If the site as a whole is just not cutting it for you, take a break. We'll still be here when you get back. Nothing should compel you to stay.

Thats great, I need this

its a tv miniseries

saw it mentioned in a youtube video by FD signifier, I just finished the first episode, and I enjoyed it a lot, something about needing positive propaganda not just constant commenting on reactionary garbage

synopsis below, directed by Boots riley, released 2023

Cootie is a 13-foot-tall (4.0 m), 19-year-old Black teenager raised by his Aunt Lafrancine and Uncle Martisse in Oakland, California. He is shielded from the outside world until being accidentally discovered by a group of teenage political activists

I've been watching too much lower decks and have accidentally discovered people are not impressed if you respond to them with a deadpanned fascinating

I love this character, I wish I was Vulcan

Australia has also started passing laws about neonazis in an extremely superficial way

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

But at what cost?

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

Love your work, I know how brutal trying to unwind these situations can be

I left reddit when they asked me to start paying, and I realised yesterday I have been donating more to hexbear than reddit was asking me for, and I will continue to do so

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Alright I think I'm caught up, whew, I hope everyone can take some time to step out for a bit and do something 'nice'

If ever you feel like hexbear is a waste of time, seeing people talk about banning themselves and giving up their mod rights reminds me that we really are an org lol

maybe we should have elections /s

Its a reddit preview link, it loaded for me (in voyager on android), but here it is anyway

“I didn’t vote,” says the Kangaroo.

“Are you not allowed?”

“I am not allowed and I don’t want to.”

“You don’t want to?”

“No, because it’s not an election,” says the Kangaroo. “It’s just the illusion of democracy, a mock poll, the Fata Morgana of popular government. In short, it’s only the appearance of an election, or, to use the official terminology: a dummy ballot.

“A dummy ballot?”

“It’s as if you go into a supermarket and can choose between soup packets by Maggi or soup packets by Knorr, but in reality, it’s all Nestlé. The dummy ballot suggests freedom, but in reality, I tell you: it’s all capitalism, it’s all Nestlé, it’s all chicken. But because I generally do not wish to consume packaged soup, I don’t really give a hoot about brand options at the supermarket.”

I never finished reading it, but the first chapter is on youtube as an audiobook read by the author, it's good for a laugh

hey comrades,

I've been having this issue that I thought must have been related to me using Voyager, but I just experienced the same thing through desktop firefox.

When I respond to some users the page load times out and says I can't reply, but it has posted my reply (often without upvoting my own comment)

Obviously not thrilled to be tagging people but one user I have noticed it with replying @Angel@hexbear.net, both threads and comments.

Which is extra annoying cause I've been really enjoying nerding out together.

I think it has happened with other users too. (Really regretting not saving the thread that was extra broken I saw earlier in the week.)

A comrade just sent me this, from https://cubaisnotalone.art/

Short video from https://means.tv via youtube

okay I admit this one is leaning a bit heavily into some of the libertarian energy they had in the 70s, but I've been (hounded) by older rush fans to tell me "THEY CHANGED"

but anyway, I'm listening to this because i am mad and the chorus is close to "you don't work, you don't eat"

the song slaps, dont @ me

I'm pretty embarrassed that almost every song from the We Are Lady Parts series gives me goosebumps. I hope this stuff inspires a whole lot of people to start playing guitar!

Sorry I'm posting a listicle, and I didn't CW for FOOD because it's c/food

I just went down a rabbit hole reading about Uzbek food and saw this

Uzbek-style plov is found in the post-Soviet countries and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. In Xinjiang, where the dish is known as polu, it is often served with pickled vegetables, including carrots, onion and tomato.

Yeah I shouldnt be surpised, you can walk from Xingjang and Uzbekistan, and I did know this, I'm just excited about plov! Years ago my housemate and I made an amazing vegan rendition of Plov with apples and cashews, I wish I could remember what else we used...

It doesnt feel possible for me, but I like to imagine one day visiting Xinjiang

anyway, #plovposting is a much healthier late night activity that peeling through imperialist rags

If we go to war with China there'll be nothing to buy, nothing to buy -- nothing to buy, nothing to buy
