People really need to drop this Insistence that progressive/leftist shit won't win an election. Even with Trumpism as the alternative, dems can't get a leg up because they think chasing trumpers further right will flip them - but trumpers are trump loyalists and even "normal" Republicans are all in. There's no votes for dems there, but they've completely lost their potential base playing this game. Nobody votes because our options are corporate far right or corporate mid right.

If Dems want to mobilize apathetic voters, bring the left vote in, AND flip some "traditional Republicans," they need to run on those policies that are largely popular like M4A and run a candidate with a track record of fighting for more progressive shit that people dont think will drop it all on day 1 like every other dem.

The problem is dems will take Trump over moving an inch to the left 10/10 times.

I mind that it now has AI that assures said single employee that I'm fleecing them for an $0.80 can of tomato sauce and I now have to wait for this person to dig through my 3 bags looking for this hoisted sauce.

If they're so determined that every customer is lifting everything at checkout all the time - if only there was a way they could have an employee verify every item gets scanned, every time, perhaps by doing it themselves. Then we could wait in a line and feed our items to them so they can rest easy knowing everything was scanned appropriately. Oh, what science fiction Dreams I have.

Unfortunately, It's not about ending CSAM. It's about ending encryption.

I started on lemmy.world, and volunteered to mod a few communities relevant to my interests. Somebody started swinging at me on a post, sounding pretty super right. I looked at their profile and they were straight on some nazi shit. Literally, espousing nazi talking points.

I also noticed that they were mod on one community I was mod. I linked to relevant content and asked admin to remove said mod, and if they don't it's their perogative but I'd remove myself from mod-ship, no worries. I just don't want to share a space with that person who so openly is on that bullshit. 🤷

I was banned from the entire instance within 10 minutes.

The number of jobs I've missed out on and lost exclusively because I'm not normative enough to tell milquetoast jokes around a water cooler with a bunch of people I know two facts about but treat like my best friend numbers in the 100s.

Fuck all these people trying to force the old ways forever just so they can exercise their social capital upon the rest of us.
