Finally! I hate how the US just bends over for Israel. Any religion involved in any government will turn fascist because they can't stop hating all the other religions. Turns out people that believe in fairy tales aren't that bright!

I'm admittedly not from this community but I'd make the argument that you may as well switch to this now because your community will suffer either now or in the future when reddit needs to show more revenue growth. Say what you will about how much the api change actually matter but they at the least show their mentally about their users and platform.

Okay I'm convinced, we live in a simulation. No way this isn't alien reality tv.

When I first read about the defederation I had a knee jerk angry response but after thinking about it I really feel like it makes sense for them. They want to have a heavily moderated space and it's hard to do that when you integrate with the other communities. It seems to me they have a level head and are approaching this carefully. I hope that they end out being in the minority but I can understand having a few relatively solitary groups with a focused goal.

I highly recommend reading through both parts of this blog. It's a really interesting read.

I would aim to find a healthy way to use Lemmy instead. Given you said you usually only follow it I might make an argument that there is just a massive it event currently Happening on Lemmy. As such your following it. I don't know that going back to Reddit will make much of a difference to you if you already have those habits. Try to limit your social media use and find a healthy way to interact with social media.

Public companies are legally required to always do their best to grow year over year. Eventually these companies get so large they can't realistically get more market share so they have to figure out how to make more money from their users. This leads to them squeezing users for cash in the hunt for short term gains because they've already realistically capped out on how much money they can make per year. It's a dumb system that can't work in the long term.

I've been a daily smoker for the last 4 years, I had to take some time off for a job and it's shocked me how my dreams have come back. I'm not planning on quitting but I'm probably going to try to stop daily usage. I'm curious how others feel about where they are with their weed usage and how it impacts them. I genuinely forgot what real powerful dreams were like and I ran a sleep study as a part of my university thesis and got to see firsthand how it impacts my REM sleep.

I know! Why would they do that to themselves!

I know, it's disgusting. I had an argument with a friend saying that all companies are greedy so why would you expect reddit to be different... I mean yeah if you just let them walk all over you that's what's gonna happen.

What's the difference between kbin and Lemmy? I thought they were just different instances of the same open source project with different host names.

Same Posts on All (sh.itjust.works)

Is anyone else always seeing the same group of posts when they try to look at all posts? It's always the same ones for me and then new ones slowly come in. I imagine it must be a caching issue somewhere.

Hi everyone! I've been working in ML for a while now and I'm breaking into OpenAI's Spinning Up series and I figure it's time for me to get a dual boot with Linux up and running. I can't get docker to stop giving me a memory leak with WSL 2 and frankly using it as a workaround doesn't make that much sense when I am fairly comfortable with IT / the command line. I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for distros and maybe a good bootloader to get started with. The one thing I'm a bit worried about is I have this random FiiO DAC that has shitty drivers even on Windows but I suppose not being able to use that wouldn't be a huge deal anyway as I won't be using this as my daily driver quite yet.

What advantage would switching to crypto have? I'm not well versed in how Lemmy works yet but I don't see why Lemmy would need blockchain.

Cool, I guess it's time to uninstall boost then. Guess I'm on Lemmy for the foreseeable future!
