I've just found this article about Futurama on The Independent, a UK newspaper. It comments on the changes in Futurama reflecting the changes in society in general.

Is there any way to keep the "Lemmy World" right hand sidebar on the main page collapsed after a refresh or when going back to the main page? It's quite long and I have to scroll a bit to get to my subscriptions below it. I collapse it, but it returns again and doesn't stick.

At the moment, it's getting a bit annoying, especially seeing that I can collapse it, but it doesn't say that way.

Other than that minor annoyance, all is good.

My desktop Firefox syncs my passwords to Firefox for Android quite well.

However, yeah, I do think that Firefox's development over the years has gone a bit awry with the attempt to out-Chrome Chrome. It's still the best browser out there, though.

Here's hoping that there'll be a season four of The Orville. It'd be a pity that the show would end without proper closure.

Currently, it all seems to be rumour and nothing concrete about any upcoming season. Some of the actors say that there have been talks, so it seems that there might be some hope.

I'm just putting this post up because this community is dead.

I'll end this before Bortus tells me: "You shall be quiet!"

One feature I'd love to see on Firefox for Android is the ability to resize the fonts per site. There's a general font resizing option that affects all sites, but it'd be great if there was an ability to have different setting per site. Sometimes making font sizes larger on one site will end up making other sites too large, and when lessening the size on some sites, makes them too small to read on others.

I use Firefox for Android Beta, which means I can install a wider set of addons than Stable. I've tried Zoom Page WE on Firefox for Android, but it doesn't work, which is a pity.

I suppose I should be putting this as a feature request at Mozilla, but thought I'd just air my thoughts here. Anyone know of any plans to introduce this sort of thing in future versions?

Anyone notice when on Lemmy and you go to choose some setting from the drop-down (Active, New, Old, Hot, etc) when using Firefox of Android, that the selection menu starts to flicker? I can select from it, but it does seem to interfere a bit doing so. Anyone else?

Might be the effects of that bug that's causing Lemmy to constantly scroll new posts that's going to be fixed in the next Lemmy update (0.18).

This is the latest Firefox for Android Beta, running on a Pixel 7 with Android 13.

Edit: Actually, this seems to also happen on desktop Firefox (stable on Linux), just maybe not as noticeable.

I'm not really one who has the inclination to moderate, but I might consider setting up the Lemmy equivalent of r/the_wire if one doesn't come up in the next few weeks.

There are issues with both sides of the down button debate, but I'm more for it than against.

For a different take on the downvote button, yesterday I put a post up on a technical thread. I hadn't really read properly what the discussion was about, so my post wasn't really helpful even if well intentioned. I only noticed when I got a couple of downvotes. I looked again at my post, then at the OP, then realised my error. Eventually I deleted my post. So, in that instance, I found the downvote helpful to myself as well as for the rest of the thread: make sure I read the OP carefully. ;-)

Yeah, that's what I visualise when I read the word lemmy.

Someone was wondering what to call users of Lemmy. Maybe motorheads?

Surely raisin?

There are plenty of other instances to join if you don't like the .ml servers' opinions. From what I can see, all tastes are catered for. Just find another server.

And, no, I'm not affiliated with the .ml instances nor am I a so-called Tankie.

Hopefully it'll get fixed soon, otherwise at the rate that Lemmy is growing, we'll soon be playing never ending catchup.

[-] Gort@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah, you can't brute force that.

You can imagine the Romulans thinking that 0000 is just too stupid to pick for a PIN, so never tried it. When they find out, they'll be kicking themselves and wondering why the Federation is a formidable opponent.

[-] Gort@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Yes, sorry that I did that.

Nice community. I'm currently going through a rewatch of Futurama, so this place should suit my needs.
