My life, my few friends’ lives, my family members’ lives, shit just sucks all around. I can’t remember the last time I went somewhere for lunch and paid less than ten dollars. God, remember when fast food used to be the cheap option with somewhat of a reputation for being poor people food? I sure as hell do because that was like 10 years ago (in my experience at least). It’s so incredibly, incredibly fucking ominous to see that all the cashiers are gone and have been replaced by kiosks.

And part of me understands that this is just the natural progression of technology or whatever the fuck, but there are days where I go without talking to someone in real life. The same shit is happening at pharmacies, grocery stores, even Godamn doctors offices. Am I just being too glass half empty? Every part of this seems like a living nightmare and it just continues to get worse

Every time I go to one of the aforementioned establishments, they’ve added another camera or put another item behind a paywall. This just seems to me like brick and mortar stores are becoming high security centers in an effort to push everyone to purchase online.

I honestly don’t have the words. I’m talking about someone with just over 100K followers who recently discovered that there aren’t many avenues to put an end to this, considering the fact that AI is completely unregulated and probably will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Personally, I’ve been contemplating making myself perceptible to those online in some form because I’m envious of the people who have done so and enjoyed some sense of community in return, but I think it’s over.

I kinda cringe at a text message I sent someone who I met on a dating app. After years of being away from that hellish landscape (my opinion because I’ve seen that many people on this site have met partners there), I’m just now noticing some of its darker and unfortunate sides.

Christ yeah, I still remember exactly what I said and it was weird. I truly thought I had found “the one” simply because they were semi-attractive and liked a few of the same things I did with the same intensity. And didn’t mind receiving texts in paragraphs kinda in the same way this is written right now (that was a pretty big one tbh)

Because I thought they were “the one” I’ve kept her as a friend and slowly learned I did a ton of projecting. It’s really come to the point where one of the only reasons I continue with the friendship is because I don’t have many other friends really. Cue one of the other parts that always says I can never be pleased and echoes the sentiments of everyone who has repeatedly told me something similar. Call me a hater, difficult or always unhappy, but the one thing I truly can’t stand is being the friend who in addition to existing mostly on the side is poked here and there. It all comes back to the old idea of being in relationships that aren’t fulfilling because the only ones that have fulfilled me are dead and gone.

It’s 3 AM and this makes perfect sense, but it might not after I sleep. Idk I feel really strongly about this part right now, probably need to bring it up in therapy but very curious if it’s at all relatable

I met someone on discord last year, and I don’t quite have the words to describe the lead up. One minute we were gaming and the next minute I was in their apartment 1200 miles away, but like I said, the feelings were unreal and I can’t imagine ever finding anything like it again. When I see a video that has gender implications blow the fuck up, alarms blare. Alarms fucking blare. Because it’s extremely nauseating to see people pretend like gamer gate and the “not real life” harassment of women didn’t have drastic consequences. It actually makes my blood boil thinking about how much I was clowned on in college for telling people that Jordan Peterson’s language was violent, and it’s fucking infuriating to see people still pretending that language isn’t a tool often used as a weapon.

But I digress. OP mistakenly classifies the colorful bird as the female and captions “When the woman has to put the man in his place 💅”

The top comment with hundreds of thousands of likes points out OP’s mistake (smugly but it doesn’t matter because it gets hundreds of thousands of likes). Every comment (that people will look at) is now about how the OP is a man hater or dumb liberal.

Idk, some things are worth overanalyzing imo. As someone who has only ever had words but been afraid to use them, people have clowned on me for decades for “giving them too much power.” But this is why girl boss feminism fails as illustrated by birds.

The researchers in this video talk about how these gen AI models try to “escape” when being trained which makes me uncomfortable (mainly because I don’t like determinism even though it’s true imo) but also very worried for when they start giving them “bodies.” Though the evidence that they are acting fully autonomously seems quite flimsy. There is also so much marketing bullshit that seeps into the research which is a shame because it is fascinating stuff. If only it wasn’t wasting an incomprehensible amount of compute propped by precious resources.

It is just incomprehensible to me how I am asked to upgrade to a the next “tier” for something as simple as a data model shape. I’m not kidding when I say this is something you could easily create in something like paint (and/or apply the techniques from these ubiquitous LLM slop machines into an effective use case. Instead, you get priced at increasing 5 dollar intervals so you can now place an attribute with more lines.

I’m really trying to accept this shit, I really am, but it just becomes even more absurd the more I look into it. Doesn’t seem ridiculous to claim that a majority of the value we get from technology is predicated on people’s ignorance, and it’s kind of hard not to see at this point. But that’s ignorance that you and I have to deal with every day for the rest of our lives, especially as things become increasingly digital. The ominous nature of this shit continues to show signs at every corner, yet everyone in my life is still using it without a critical thought. I have many of those if you couldn’t tell.

I truly just want to take all of this shit I’ve learned about capitalism and tech and turn it all off.
