if you want to speed it up, you can set AI agents to automatically search the web for news related to that and alert you. So with all the heat for them to run you'll make your contribution to AMOC collapse. (and of course this is /s)

since all the good jokes have already been made, I'll just point out that this reminds me of the "phone" interface described in William Gibson "jackpot" series.

I'm not an expert but I'm sure somewhere it exists some anime of yuri AI robots. Rule34 demands it.

I took a look at the privacy policy (I'm fun at parties). I am happy to see that you clearly state that you don't trade/sell personal information. But what about aggregated anonymized data? Also, good point on stating that analytics are enabled only with cookies. I'd suggest you add a method for communication on point 6 (yes the email is at the bottom of the text, but it feels like it should be also there).

Sorry if this comes through as antagonistic, it really isn't the case, I know writing those policies is hard even with the best intentions and I'm just offering a second pair of eyes on it. Look at this as (hopefully) "constructive feedback" :)

ah I'm not disputing that! By all means read to them. I'm just saying that when they are babies and toddlers imho it's better something with some pictures. I think it makes more fun to them as they learn to point to things as well.

vouching for "the book with no pictures", but maybe when they are 3-4 yo.

[–] Im_old@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

you assume they aren't ok with this. Maybe they see it as another win.

to me what looks weird in the vacation pic is the alignment of torso and legs. It looks really off. In the hospital pic is more natural. So I'm inclined to agree with you that hospital is real and holiday isn't.

Also, I was looking for an actual turtle in the holiday pic to check reflections, it took me a while to understand 😅

amazing, thank you!

Can I suggest you explain a bit more in detail the whitelist option please? Does it mean that the system should use the specified private dns only when connected to specific ssid?

"they shot it down" yeah, sure. It's the falling debris as usual that then hit exactly the right spot.

And it's even in the quieter part of the office!

But I prefer my t-shirts black and colored socks!

Hi, I'm in the market for a zigbee dimmer (no neutral). There is a rotary one from Candeo that technically is what I need, but honestly it looks a bit ugly.

Anyone has a "soft button" switch to recommend? By soft button I mean something that:

  • if pressed once (short press) it turns on/off
  • with long press it increase/decrease power

Even better if it's a 2-gang one.
Thanks everyone!

Hi, I've set up a prosody server. It works, video calls (with Turn) work, file transfers works. So far so good.

I'd like to install slidge with the whatsapp bridge, but the official slidge documentation is... not great in my opinion.

I've added the priviledge module declaration and the whatsapp bridge information. For what I understand I also need to define a pubsub service, but I can't understand where and with what information.

Can somebody point me in the right direction please?

Thanks!

Hello everyone! I was thinking about starting a website where to dump some guides on stuff Iearn about selfhosting and general IT stuff.

I don't want a WordPress or similar. I want static pages (but I'm ok with some JavaScript for navigation maybe, or for proper display on different kind of devices). Ideally I'd like to host it on an AWS S3 bucket since it has the built-in option for static hosting.

I could even go back to the '90s and do it myself from scratch in textedit and html by hand, but I'm pretty sure there are better options out there.

I took a look at Hugo but even that it seems overly complicated for what I need.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

The one on top is my levain starter, bottom is kimchi (first aattempt, fingers crossed!).

I just find it funny that they are in their cozy corner bubbling away together 😄

Hi everyone! Can someone please recommend a game without monsters (but with animals)? I am running my minetest server at home and I'd like to start playing with my kid, but I really don't like the monsters bit. I just want a game where we can explore and build things together.

Thanks!

ETA: For anyone looking for the same thing: I've added the option

only_peaceful_mobs = true

in minetest.conf under minetest/data/games/mineclone2

I've waited for the next night cycle and no monsters spawned. But a cow mooing behind me scared lol.

Thanks to @GrappleHat@lemmy.ml for the tip!

Hello everyone! I currently selfhost a matrix server but, seeing everyone talking about xmpp, I decided to try again with that one. I did try about 8-9 years ago but couldn't make it work (don't remember the issue, probably pebkac).

My requirements are:

  • e2ee (I see OMEMO is the solution for this);
  • audio/video calls (looks like all the main clients/servers supports this with SIP or similar);
  • whatsapp bridge: this is very important as I currently use my matrix with element to chat (not calls) with all the whatsapp contacts.

Would be nice if the server runs with docker images (but I see Prosody has the option so not an issue).

So basically I am a bit stumped only on the whatsapp bridge thing. I see some github repos for that but they all seem quite old.

Any help, pointers, suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

after a few months of tries this one looks better!

  • 200gr wholemeal stoneground flour
  • 80gr spelt flour
  • 100gr white flour
  • 100gr starter
  • 250ml water (actually a smidge less than that)
  • salt

Folded 5 times every 30 minutes. Let it rest for a 5 hours on the kitchen counter, degassed (well, that's just a fancy word, it just deflated when I poked it lol), then let it rest overnight (12 hours) in the fridge. Cooked in the oven inside dutch oven. Let it cool for 24hours before cutting it.

Taste good, it's not as wet as the previous experiments where I just let it rest overnight in the fridge.

It's "dense", which in a way is good because if the holes were too big the butter/peanut butter would just drip through! But I'd like to have it a just a bit more fluffy I guess. I know the starter is good because when I feed it it grows like crazy (and smells good).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Unless you are in dangerously high winds (like shit-flying-around-winds), when you cut the string on a kite it comes down. Sadly and floppily.
