The general, tankie lack of respect for human life, genicide denialism, ect., as well as transphobia.

It does exist, but it's not common. My guess as to that its multifaceted. First and biggest is obviously sexism. Women are seen as weak and mean expected to take care of them. Anything other than this is taboo, and in more conservative areas, seen as wrong. The only reason it's at all accepted in kink is that its purely behind closed doors, so people get less chance to attack it. I also think that most women just enjoy the status quo. Whether this is because women like to be submissive, or just that people in general like to be submissive and women don't have to hide it is impossible to tell. Regardless, a lot of people are perfectly happy with the current expectations. Finally, I think its just momentum. It takes time for things to change.

If you do want to find more stuff like this, the main terms to look for are, "role reversal" for nuclear-family-esk relationships with reversed gender roles, "female led relationship" for generally more intense women in charge, or "gentle femdom" for more gentle and caring stuff, but more sex focused. As much as I hate to recommend it, Reddit is probably the best spot to look, seeing as there isn't really any other aggregators for something that niche and taboo.

Given that Lemmy is currently asking for donations, and given the disdain I and many other have for the Lemmy developers' actions, I was wondering if its possible/helpful to donate to PieFed's development instead?

Its not inherently a bad idea, but you need to keep in mind that is a crutch and not a cure. Substances won't solve your problems, and shouldn't be your sole, chosen treatment.

That said, just as crutches can help you survive and are often healthier overall than bedrest, so too can substances help. For example, if you have severe, chronic depression, and can't afford medication, while weed won't help (and may make it slightly worse overall), it might help you remain functional durring depressive episodes. Its no medication, but if its keeps you alive long enough to keep working towards a long-term solution, its worth it.

Lemmy was originally founded by political extremists who wantted a space for their politics (tankies.) Its since grown past that, but that inflence is still present in many ways, most prominently in the influences of .ml. On top of this, politics is something inflammatory (and thus engaging) that affects everyone. Because its both engaging and broad-appeal, its going to be something everyone talks about. On the other hand, many niches, aside from being niche are often less inherently engaging (IE talking about a finished TV show). This makes it very hard to get the critical mass needed for a community to snowball into relevance. This means that (effectively) all you're left with is the political communities and a couple niches that are broad appeal enough and have active enough users to be stable.

Yes, its ableist. Excluding, insulting or discriminating against people for disability is basically the definition, reguardless of what they claim. Saying they're not ableist doesn't change it, any more than saying something like, "I'm not racist, but..."

To my knowledge, theres no built-in functionality, but it should theoretically be very easy to make a bot for it. I might actually give it a shot when I get free time.

Honestly, I like the weekly missions. Back in GO, when there was more discussion about the lack of willingness of players to learn/play new maps, this is one of the solutions I proposed. Its a good, non-invasive way to incentivize playing new and different maps.

I'm having similar issues with my cat, and this sounds like a genius solution. No issues pooping in litterbox, but perfers books or bedding to pee on. According to the vet(s), he's in perfect health, and he has multiple litterboxs in different locations, so I guess he's just a weirdo. Dog pads in a litterbox seems like the perfect solution.

I mean, in this case it was a complete technical overhaul. Graphically and technically, its much more flexable and more modern.

It is an Overwatch 2 situation in that it had most of its content removed compared to CS:GO though.

According to Wikipedia, citing the 2022 US census, median annual personal income is $48k, meaning the average american is right on that line.

I was curious how the activity stats on the sidebar are calculated. I was looking through the GitHub, but I'm not familiar with Rust, so I was having trouble parsing everything.

Would anyone be able to point me to the relevant section on github?

My partner is interested in learning some of the games I play, so I'm trying to find some introductory games to get her used to the common control schemes.

Off the top of my head, it'd probably have to be games that...

  • Have few inputs beyond the basics
  • Are not difficult or punishing
  • Are approachable mechanically (So as not to overwhelm them when they're focus on learning basic controls)
  • 2D is probably preferable, since its easier to understand and process whats happening at a glance.
  • Multiplayer would probably also be a strong bonus, but also not required

The only game that particularly comes to mind is Portal, but hopefully others will have some better ideas.

Egg interceptions up 116% so far this year, while seizures of fentanyl down 32%

I'm trying to find a decent wireless headset for day-to-day use. It'd be for a lot of teleconferencing as well as some gaming, music, and other normal stuff. In particular, I'm looking for a pair of over-ears, since wearing on-ears or in-ears for longer periods is uncomfortable (esspecially with glasses), want something with a fold-up or removeable microphone to prevent damage, and have a pretty limited budget: $200CAD, equivalent to about $100USD.

My standards aren't that high for general quality, but I wasn't finding much that met my criteria. As-is I was debating between the Logitech Vibe 100 (Seemed like it was decent all-around, and it comes in white or pink, which is a bonus) or the Corsair Void RGB Elite (mainly for the large ear cups). I know both these options are pretty gamer-y, which is usually bad, and the Corsair headset is ancient, but I haven't really found anything that looks better. Does anyone have any better options?

Edit: The Logitech G733 also looks promising.

I'm trying to find mechanical keyboards that are not black/grey, are standard or TKL, and are hotswappable. I have yet to find a site that allows you to sort by all three chritiria, nonetheless sort though multiple brands/sites. Has anyone made a site along these lines?

Edit: like what pcpartpicker offers for most other computer parts

Edit 2: Keeb-finder is what I was looking for. Its support for non-American stuff isn't great, but its better than nothing.

Was hoping to do a little bit of advertising on other platforms. Anyone have any good, "intro to the fediverse" type infographics. For example, graphics that explain breifly what it is and how to join, or recommend a few good starting instances.

Honestly, with this patch so far, he feels like he's better as a 4, relying on goo and shard. I haven't found anything that makes him tanky enough or strong enough to compete with other tanks in the mid or late game nor does he have the utility to make up for it. Has anyone got any idea that have worked for them?

Yes, I know DRM-free means you can still physically play the games. Thats not what I'm asking.

Sparked by a recent discussion about DRM, I'm wondering what happens legally when different game stores close. For example, if Steam shuts down, are licences presumed to presist or are they revoked? What about GOG, Itch.io or Epic? I couldn't find anything in the terms of service specifying.
