If he actually launches a Trump phone service, it’s going to be a MVNO that just piggy backs off the main operators’ infrastructure. It’s not like he or his idiot sons are going to buy spectrum and build towers.

He wouldn’t really be competing with T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T. He’d be competing with Boost Mobile and companies like that.

Are draft picks just not valuable anymore? I wouldn’t give up 4 first round picks for anyone but an established superstar.

That’s not that much of a twist.

I worked in politics in DC for several years and I can say with no uncertainty that the DNC and Center for American Progress could disappear and no typical voter would care. Just useless institutions that don’t even do their useless jobs well. Neera Tanden is head of CAP again and is going to be fucking useless again.

Iran doesn’t have nuclear weapons. They’ve enriched uranium to something like 65% to prove they could go further if pressed but no bombs that we know of yet.

Israel’s official policy is to not say whether or not they have nuclear weapons but everyone knows they have them and the “mysterious” test was Israel and Apartheid South Africa working together.

Many more states have the knowledge and capability but generally don’t want to violate the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. I would guess most countries with advanced economies could make a bomb in short time if they wanted to.

I quit GTA V when it told me I had to drive from Beverly Hills to Long Beach and I was just like, “I’ll just play Tetris.”

I find myself playing games that involve exploration or retro arcade games. Missions and assigned side quests often feel like doing chores. I can follow a line on a map and get frustrated in real life.

That being said, I had a nice time playing Breath of the Wild and old arcade games were designed to take your quarters so they can be quick to play if you suck. Gradius doesn’t take me long to die in even with the Konami code.

Alright, fine. I’ll delete it. I was just joking around but it seems like it didn’t land.

Grilled pineapple or pineapple tossed in a crawfish boil is excellent and would be a great burger addition. But it can’t just be a slice of pineapple. Too sweet. It would mess up the cheese flavor. You need to get rid of some of the sugar.

Fly fishing would probably be similar. I just want an activity and some water. I can get fish at the store if I catch zero. It’s about being on the water and enjoying a nice day.

Lakes. I live in Louisiana so it’s more “water” than freshwater lakes but during the pandemic, I’d just go out to a lake and cast a fishing pole with no bait and be outside with something to do. I wasn’t interested in catching anything. I just wanted to do something and sit by the water.

I didn’t know whether to mark this NSFW or not but it’s time to buy a new computer if you haven’t upgraded in multiple decades.

The most hospitalized man in human history has been hospitalized again. Thoughts and prayers that it’s as funny as when he got bit by an exotic flightless bird: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/jair-bolsonaro-coronavirus-bird-bite-brazil-rhea-emu-quarantine-a9621041.html

Clowned.

I made a gift link article for a friend to prove NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd ate an entire chocolate bar of chocolates she got where the instructions clearly to eat one chomp or whatever small pieces of chocolate are called.

I thought I’d share it here since The NY Times gives 30 days to gift links. Please enjoy Maureen Dowd’s story of eating a whole chocolate bar: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/04/opinion/dowd-dont-harsh-our-mellow-dude.html?unlocked_article_code=1.304.f3-4.53knmon_lsFq

My (non-tech savvy) friend and I have been having a weird issue where random texts show up like 2 days later. My phone is up-to-date and new and his might never have installed a system update for all I know. (I don’t let him connect to my main WiFi network for a reason.)

I don’t seem to be having this issue with anyone else. I’m on iOS and he’s on Android but a relatively modern Samsung phone. Should I sit him down and update his phone or something or is this a known issue?

This isn’t a great photo. I was sitting outside in Moab, UT playing with the night sky app. The bright dot right above the hilltops is the ISS. Taken with an iPhone 15 Pro on default settings (3 second exposure in the dark) so it’s not that far off from the actual view.

I live in a city but I’m near a dark sky site right now so I’ve been having a ball with just my binoculars and a camera phone.

It seems like there would be an advantage because of the type of subs that happen in that scenario. Making defensive subs in the final minutes of regular time would at least hurt you in penalties, if not in added time. But maybe it’s not an important factor.

I tried googling it but nothing came up. But it’s 2024 Google so maybe I just asked the wrong way or it wanted to sell me stuff.

Columbia University’s student newspaper has an editorial about what transpired.

I had to test/fix something at work and I set up a Windows VM because it was a bug specific to Windows users. Once I was done, I thought, “Maybe I should keep this VM for something.” but I couldn’t think of anything that wasn’t a game (which probably wouldn’t work well in a VM anyway) or some super specific enterprise software I don’t really use.

I also am more familiar with the Apple ecosystem than the Microsoft one so maybe I’m just oblivious to what’s out there. Does anyone out there dual boot or use a VM for a non-game, non-niche industry Windows exclusive program?

Waitress: You folks ready?

Dieter: I have lingonberry pancakes.

Kieffer: Lingonberry pancakes.

Franz: Three pigs in blanket.

Woman: [asks for blueberry pancakes in German]

Dieter: [translating] Lingonberry pancakes.

Lots of people were way more important than history books give them credit for. Do you have a favorite?

Mine are Ibn al-Haytham and Mansa Musa. For very different reasons. Ibn al-Haytham basically invented the scientific method. And Mansa Musa was such a baller that he caused inflation when he visited places.
