Just curious, what kind of deadly situation is created when people leave their cars idling for so long?

I'm the kind of person that turns the car off if there is a train coming and I need to wait 5 minutes. I can't imagine leaving the car running for more than a couple of minutes.

I think if the car is turned on with a button and the key is replaced with a card that works at a distance, a feature that turns the car off when sitting idle for a while seems like a sensible thing. It's way more likely to be on by mistake than left running for a reason.

But would love to hear what kind of situations there are, I'm just unfamiliar with them.

Very true, but this was a real life discussion.

Thanks for your excellent response. The way these two sides were talking it seemed like there is no actual middle ground. But from what you say there actually is.

It's an official act, so total immunity applies.

What isn't an official act you say? Well that's a good question, but simply put anything that isn't an unofficial act. But then what's an unofficial act I hear you ask? I'll let you know once we have found one, but so far none have been found and it's possible none exist.

Yes often. I regularly work on fixing up old computers and electronics, often Archive is the place to go for old manuals and schematics. Old firmware and software is also on there.

It's so much better for people to put stuff on the Archive instead of in a random forum post somewhere with a broken download link.

Well decompiling is only one step in the reverse engineering process. I would recommend taking a look at the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time decompile projects. They reversed engineered the whole thing, which took years and was a team effort.

In the end they got perfectly readable source code, fully documented. And the most amazing thing is, when compiled with the right compiler and right flags, it recreates the original rom perfectly.

I would also recommend a YouTuber called Kaze. He's been working on Mario 64 for years, re-writing large parts of the engine to get some pretty cool stuff going.

This is outdated, the soil quality has gone down in many places since 2018. So if you think this looks bad, reality is worse.
