I'm hating all the buzz he's getting. His Medicare for "Y'all" plan is a shitty public option that, of course, hurts working-class and poor folks. People are eating it up, and from what I see online, he has successfully convinced people it's just like single payer. Extremely deceptive.

Sidenote: I was watching an Elisabeth Rosenthal discussion on the public option, and she confidently said that it was worse than single payer, and makes single payer harder to achieve. Anyone with some know-how, how is this the case? Do you think people like Talarico are fully aware that they're basically fighting against single-payer?

Getting ready for law school. I found out a class (I retook just to boost my GPA lol) wasn't covered by aid, over a week after the semester I took it ended.

Now my college won't let me do anything with my transcripts until it gets taken care of. My balance is like $1500! They do not care. They're not even good at being greedy; the way they did it makes it even harder to pay them back in a timely manner. Fuckin dicks.

What's even shittier is that I work at a uni on the bookstore side, and I see the school rip people off constantly.

A friend has an up-and-coming TikTok account related to medicine, but it's currently focused on baby-related content.

He's a total lib but wants to be left on single payer. His uncle (communist btw lol) had an infamous testimony to Congress about single payer in the 50's? But he doesn't know a lot of the technical side. He's also in support of abolishing private doctors, which I think isn't something that comes up in the single-payer argument?

Is there a go-to place for a scholarly nerd for this sort of topic? We have Rosenthal's book, but it barely mentions single payer. Or are there some quick-hitting essential facts I should consider?

Obviously, CBT/ERP. I stumbled on a Reddit post about "peripheral staring OCD," and it hit me that while that doesn't describe my symptoms 100% (I don't believe I have the tourette's type parts), it is far closer than anything I have thought about or explained to a doc to be diagnosed with.

It hits especially hard because even like 5-ish years ago, when I was binge drinking, it was half as bad (at worst, probably less even). And even before that, it was so manageable that I would go months or even years without any symptoms. I thought if I quit drinking, it would be some magical fix, but nah. It's been months, and it hasn't gotten better. Definitely affecting me at my job, socializing, dating, etc.

But yeah, I'm here because the Reddit page is a nightmare. Many people just give up or accept the worst. I got a feeling it's something that can eventually be managed, and being a dramatic loser (and likely not even doing the therapy, let's be real) is what that page was for.

If anyone has some insight here, I would greatly appreciate it. I had no idea I had these issues even a week ago, but I am extremely aware now, and it's a scary concept.

Other thoughts:

The DNC chair situation is interesting. Ben Wikler seems to be unlikely to rig a primary and has picked up a lot of endorsements. He says he wants to build from the ground up in every county with unions. He will probably get blocked lol.

Tim Walz endorsed a guy from Minnesota that sucks. I am noticing a trend of people that want to run on Bernie 2016 policy/rhetoric without the class aspect which is lowkey good for losing.

Rahm Emmanuel got bullied out of the race. Would have been funny to see him somehow stay involved in the dem party in a major role.

I've spent a bit of time in the country, it's beautiful and if you like slow cooked BBQ the food is amazing.

But I've had this same conversation a million fucking times. People love their new libertarian incel president because of his "common sense" reforms. And the changing economy is "proof socialism doesn't work"
