I’ve never done makeup before, even my own, but I’d like to start learning. The sheer amount of options is a bit overwhelming though. What are your favorite tutorials (YouTube videos or channels, etc) for makeup, especially the basics?

Carmel through Broad Ripple is really nice and totally safe. It starts to get less nice around the fairgrounds and 38th, but at this time of the year, in daylight and in a group, I think it would be perfectly safe

I think Indiana might give Ohio a good run for last place

Don’t forget that Gavin Newsom, the high profile Democratic governor of one of the most Democratic states, who definitely wants to be president in 2028, took the opportunity on his first podcast episode to invite on Charlie Kirk and say he was totally aligned with him on trans kids in sports. There is absolutely a set of Democrats who view defending trans rights as an annoyance that “loses them moderate voters.”

Oof, you got me with this one. I’m visiting family for Memorial Day weekend, and the relentless misgendering is wearing on me. Tbf, I can’t blame them, because I haven’t come out to any of them yet

I mean, I suppose so. I can imagine a theoretical AI that isn’t trained on stolen work, isn’t insanely energy intensive, isn’t controlled by the ownership class, and doesn’t hallucinate wildly. But that’s so far away from what AI is in our current context, drawing that distinction feels like losing the forest for the trees, at this point in time.

It was a conscious decision. After the Second World War, the US needed somewhere to shift all of the manufacturing that had been built for the war effort. So cities were deliberately designed to keep houses away from jobs away from shops, so you need a car to get around, inducing a market for the personal car that never should have existed. People forget that before the car, there were cities across America that were walkable and had streetcars. The current state of affairs was never preordained. It’s the result of decades of corporate influence over government decision making.

Quite a lot of people, especially here on the Fediverse. You’d be wise to care too - AI is no friend to the working class.

I didn’t either! ActivityPub came out in 2018, what was Fediverse before ActivityPub?

I would love to! It’s just a pretty conservative workplace, so I’m very worried about the backlash that I’m expecting

My guy clothes are feeling more and more like a costume. I wish my body were feminine enough, and my wardrobe of girl clothes large enough, that I could wear them all the time.

Basically, how long would you have to be on estrogen before you could start getting some of the mental and emotional effects, but before you would start having any irreversible physical effects?

I am pretty interested in starting HRT, but I don’t necessarily want to go through the whole hassle of freezing sperm first if I end up not liking how HRT makes me feel. Nor do I want to wait a long time before starting HRT just to find out that it me feel like garbage. So I’m thinking about potentially taking it for like two or three months as a “trial run”?

Would that be enough time to get some clarity on whether or not I like how it works on me? And then I could stop it for long enough to freeze some sperm and then go back on, or just stop entirely, depending on if I like it or not.

Thanks friends 🙏💜

The recommendations I’ve seen have varied wildly from 6 weeks to 6 months. The obvious answer is “once it’s healed enough”, but I am not sure how to judge that. I got my lobes pierced about a month ago, and I’m eager to upgrade from the simple silver studs! But I also don’t want to risk damaging the healing process and making the piercing angry.

Any advice is appreciated 😊
