Bump Amber whataboutism

I do tend to agree. But I also feel like there's too much we don't know. This guy didn't get a little loaded and suddenly become a prick and she suddenly escalated to having her own personal burning man. They've known each other for years, apparently. This couldn't have been an isolated incident. To me it feels like this was just the proverbial straw. A little liquid courage and marching powder, and we get a crispy Mr Louder.

That all said, I don't actually think this was an appropriate response still. But important to acknowledge what we don't know. Obviously she could just not be friends with the guy, probably.

Thank you for that explanation! I've been pirating for nearly 20 years now and didn't know that.

She had to go get the stuff. She even waved the lighter in front of him, after dousing him in fuel. He tried to call her bluff. Go on, do it. So, she done did the damn thing.

In my last department, we sold peeled mandarins (Halos). You got maybe 3-4 mandarins for 3.49. Or you can buy a 3lb bag for like 8 and peel them yourself.

I had a customer bring me a watermelon off the sales floor and ask me to cut it. I threw it on my scale, subtracted 20% (pulled out of my ass) for the rind, and told her I could have it done in about a minute and a half, but I'd have to charge her like $60. Or she could pay the 10.99 and spend 10 minutes doing it herself. She did take my advice, to her credit.

The amount we will pay for convenience is ridiculous. But also after work I'm exhausted, and am far far too often guilty of buying a frozen pizza or takeout, when I should spend like $15, cook, and feed myself for a few days.

Ouch. I feel that so hard. Stay strong.

I've not personally had the benefit of owning square plates, mostly as I think all my dishes have been second hand. That said, they would stand up in the dish drainer much better. No rolling around. You win lol

[–] isame@hexbear.net 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Hm, round. To fit the plate.

Potentially zinc oxide, then, which is horrible for you.

So this was part of a much bigger discussion and turned out in reality to be mostly due to some unaddressed mental health issues. But on the tail end of an argument, y'know when you're starting to talk nice again and resolve things, I said something like it's okay, sometimes you're just a sad pancake. She burst into tears because she wanted to be a waffle. Hormones and mental health are wild, y'all.

Yes, but I read someone make the point, much better than I will now, that Trump's people are Trump's people. They're not Republicans or conservatives or whatever. They will support him no matter what.

Speaking entirely from personal experience, this is accurate. I don't know what percentage of people in the US are Catholic, but at least where I'm at (the south) most are Protestant. I went from being raised as a church kid (Protestant, Pentecostal to be specific), to hanging out with pagans after I left the church, and with a bunch of other groups. Everyone makes fun of Catholics.

Just need a little help between checks. I could use some not-ramen, and I need some hair ties.

Thank you all! It's raise season so with any luck I'll have to post here less!

I just wanted to make a post saying thank you to everyone. Life has been really hand-to-mouth for me for the last year, since I lost my last job and found Hexbear.

The help this community has provided me has been literally life changing. Nearly without fail if I have a need, it gets met, and I've needed a lot.

I just wanted to give my sincerest thanks to everyone here. This community is incredible and I can't wait to give back.

Be well my friends!

Rent Help (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by isame@hexbear.net to c/mutual_aid@hexbear.net

Edit: Need met. Thank you so much comrade!

I miscalculated or fucked up somewhere and I'm about $50 short of rent, due by close of business July 3rd. If anyone could help out I'd appreciate it. If I have to pay it late next check the late fees would be about $100 and I'd be a week behind.

Thank you all!

Edit: DM or see past posts for PayPal, please.

Just got off work and haven't eaten today. I've got some white rice at home for sustenance but obviously that's not much without other food. I get paid tomorrow night, so I don't need much.

DM for PayPal, or check my past posts. No CashApp please as it's overdrawn

Thank you!

Really Struggling (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by isame@hexbear.net to c/mutual_aid@hexbear.net

I need about 60 for new pants for work, and 50 for bread, lunch meat, some Ramen, and sundry foodstuffs.

Every step forward I get hit with a new expense. I'm feeling pretty discouraged but I know I can figure this out. I just need some help. Thanks everyone

DM for where to send please.

Could someone PayPal me like 25 for food and sundries? The next few weeks will continue to be economically very stressful, and some money for food would be a huge stress relief.

Paypal: sgriffith0891@gmail.com

Thanks in advance! I hope you are all doing well!

I had to go to the doctor and I need $50 to fill the meds I was prescribed.

Also if anyone knows an online job where I can pick up like 10 hours a week please let me know. It's looking like I'm going to need a second job of some variety.

Thank you!

I budgeted badly somewhere. After my check hit and paying a couple necessary things, I'm about $60 short of paying this month's rent plus late fees, as I'm having to pay late. I'm working on a budget now. It's looking like I'm going to be perma broke, but I should be able to make ends meet, ultimately.

CashApp is $sgriffith0891

PayPal is sgriffith0891 at geemail.

Thank you, friends.

I'll be paying rent late this month, and the subsequent late fees and such are eating my budget. I could use some help for food and toiletries, if someone could!

Thanks in advance! One day soon I'll get ahead of life.

Hi comrades! I've had some major life changes (ending of a relationship) that will ultimately improve my finances, but for the moment has left me out of money and nearly out of food. Any help would be appreciated!

PayPal is sgriffith0891 at gee mail. My cash app is a little backwards so PayPal is best, as I have a card for it. Thank you!

night at the Museum (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by isame@hexbear.net to c/mutual_aid@hexbear.net

We're taking the little ones to the museum tomorrow. That's covered but i don't really have the money to take them to lunch. If someone could cover like $20 that'd be wonderful.

Thank you comrades.

Update plus a new request.

Turns out my girlfriend's health issues are because she's so stressed she's just not eating. We knew this was a problem but didn't realize how bad it has gotten. She's going through a divorce with kids involved and it's not been going super well. She barely gets to see her kids and it's obviously really causing her issues.

To give a more general view into my life, I'm currently trying to work towards a bigger, non-student apartment (I'm definitely not a student, just broke) so that we can get her kids and not have to depend on her mother. We need a car too so we have more agency and freedom when we have them, plus hopefully open up another income stream delivering food/groceries or something. But with her health issues, my girlfriend has been unable to work basically at all. She's new at her job but they've been surprisingly patient.

I'm not angling for enough money to do all that. But there's just too much to pay for. I'm burning out and feeling tired and overwhelmed. I work full time and it doesn't feel like enough. I'm working towards a management position but that is at least a year away. I'll get some sort of raise in August but my health insurance is about to kick in, which will absorb most/half of said raise. I'm 32 and am basically starting life over for the umpteenth time.

I'm just stressed and broke, y'all. I love you all and appreciate whatever you can do. I know it's rough out here for everyone.

Thank you comrades!
