AFAIK, those things estimate charge based on voltage. If a battery heats up, it’ll have higher voltage. Not necessarily for a good reason…

Looks like a good harvest this year.

Unfortunately, as Keynes noted: “Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent”

And my god, they’re committed to irrationality right now.

Dude gave up his entire life to send a warning to as many people as possible. You think he’s gonna not post further warnings on Twitter?

Anti-zionism is not antisemitism.

My new favorite game is:

When the news says “high prices”, replace it with “low wages”; “inflation” with “paycuts”.

The whole economy starts to make a lot more sense.

“Hey, we really don’t want you out here on the street, so we’re gonna have to do something about it.”

“You’re gonna give us homes?”

“lol no”

“Killed in Israeli attack on aid trucks” would work.

If someone deliberately set fire to a theater and 10 people died from being trampled, you would still say they died in the arsonist’s attack, even though they didn’t die from the arsonist’s attack.

I’m not sure how to feel about the level of support shown for Bushnell, when previous self-immolators have been thoroughly ignored.

Part of me is glad that his death is not in vain, and his friends and family can take some solace in that fact.

But part of me is terrified that 20 more people are going to try similar stunts and achieve… less-than-nothing.

There are already too many martyrs. We need agitators. You can’t agitate if you’re dead or otherwise removed.

Please: If you’re considering Aaron Bushnell an inspiration, be inspired by the fact that he did something unusual, not that he did something self-destructive. Go throw some soup on a Van Gogh instead.

she applauded the climate movement for starting to "crack the grip" which the fossil fuel industry holds on the nation's political economy.

"That's because of you," she said to those in the crowd. "Don't let the cynics win. The cynics want us to think that this isn't worth it. The cynics want us to believe that we can't win. The cynics want us to believe that organizing doesn't matter; that our political system doesn't matter; that our economy doesn't matter. But we're here to say that we organize out of hope! We organize out of commitment! We organize out of love! We organize out of the beauty of our future! And we will not give up. We will not let go! We will not let cynicism to prevail!"

They use this stuff in nuclear reactors, too. And then they just release it into the air!

I love the abstract “productivity”.

Like yo, cancer is incredibly productive.

Demolishing subsistence farms and replacing them with cash crop slave plantations is mad profitable.

I could make thousands of dollars in a day if I just sold everything I own.

Our metrics of economic growth revolve around basically doing all of the above, to varying degrees of figurative vs. literal-ness.
