Yeah mentions of speed typically mean ‘over a safe speed (depending on conditions), or over the legal speed limit’

The full report would likely list one or more secondary factors as well, such as collision with a fixed object or whatever actually helped launch this car into the air

Sounds like this person wanted to ram the house so they floored it, but flying into the 2nd story was not planned

and there are people like me who buy everything with a credit card but pay off the entire balance each month

even though I technically have a credit card balance it gets reset every month and I never pay interest or late fees so the numbers don't tell the whole story

but I'm sure there are an alarmingly large number of people who actually are buried in debt, especially with rent and other costs rising so it won't be pretty when things reach a tipping point (probably already have...)

well 'crash' is kind of a generic term used for any incident involving a vehicle and they can be caused by other objects besides the vehicle in question, and parked cars may be involved in incidents

so an animal/person/tree/meteor could theoretically fall onto a parked vehicle, and in that sense 'speed' would not be a vehicle factor code

source: I work with state crash forms as part of my job and see all kinds of factor codes, not all 'crashes' necessarily involve a moving vehicle

some examples: Parked, Stopped in Traffic Lane, Explosion/Fire

all those years of playing GTA finally paid off!

[–] lackthought 10 points 2 years ago

lmao that is embarrassing

sadly spez will still make millions from the IPO before he abandons ship, so I guess in the end he still 'wins' at the expense of the users

Well if I see any more I’ll send ‘em all your way then!

Which reminds me, I also had a massive honey bee hive in a dead tree that was removed. The beekeeper said it looked like there were about 80,000 bees living in the tree. But the honey bees were mostly chill, unless I got too close with a lawnmower then they got annoyed

there was a whole community on that other site just for these

my cats love it!

and apparently GS wants out of the apple card business (according to some other report I saw)

so I wonder who would take over if they do leave

Adguard on desktop seems to be working well for me, but is entirely useless on mobile for some reason

[–] lackthought 2 points 2 years ago

yeah I'm hoping for some more activity on Lemmy as well, some communities definitely could use a boost!

Just made a post myself to try and help out

as long as the money isn’t being wasted or contracts being handed out to companies owned by politician’s friends, yeah

[–] lackthought 11 points 2 years ago (12 children)

yeah it’s a shame that libertarian basically means closeted republican these days

is there a better term?

I’d consider myself pretty libertarian-minded in the whole ‘you live your life and I live mine’ style, but not in the ‘let corporations do whatever they want to workers and the environment’ style

I am a current Apple daily driver for my computing needs, but not until somewhat recently

This was a pretty interesting video about the hypercard software from the 80s

Did anyone here use it? What kind of things did you create?

hello to all the smart and beautiful members of c/retronet

When I initially created this community I threw together a basic icon, banner, ruleset, and description just to set things in motion

Now that we've got a few hundred people subscribed I'd like to ask if anyone wants to nominate new and more permanent fixtures

If you are graphically inclined: you can recommend a new community icon or banner. I believe banners are 966x240 resolution (EDIT: lemmy updates seem to be changing banner resolutions, so this may be in flux) Icons seem to be max of 120x120

If you are good at words: feel free to recommend a better or more concise ruleset, or short description.

The short description appears in search results so it can be helpful for new users who are looking for communities, but I didn't want it to be too wordy either. It is currently 'Vintage Culture/Websites/Software'

P.S. I haven't needed to take any moderator actions but if anyone would like to volunteer for mod-duty leave a comment below and I'll mod you since I'm (surprisingly) not online 24 hours a day and who knows when the bots and spammers will arrive

another scorcher!

I’m not too familiar with the exact tech stack for memmy, but I see on github it is listed as typescript and javascript

obviously the layout and dimensions would need to be adjusted but is it likely we could compile a version for use on our desktop?

I can already tell this will be my daily driver on phone and would love a full size program with the same theme/features
