Just wrote a little blog and made a video about this to hopefully make it easier for folks to figure this out. I've looked it up a few times throughout the years and it was always a little tricky to find.

Same... Though with the latest Android it's been so buggy I gave Smart Launcher a try for the past few months and have mostly been happy with it. It's annoying that I can't easily have 3 screens with one in the center being the start but I got over it.

Looks nice but I wish the clipboard history could be based on number of items and not just time.

Yeah it's kinda the opposite of "New interface, old implementation."

Which I learned from https://henrikwarne.com/2024/01/10/tidy-first/

There actually was a transportation agency that had an ad campaign oriented around this idea. Basically people in the cars saw the train going by so fast and felt jealous because they were stuck in their cars.

Anyone remember what agency put this on?

Probably on their mailing list or irc http://ffmpeg.org/contact.html

They are far too chill about using ML to kill people:

While other countries press forward, many Silicon Valley engineers remain opposed to working on software projects that may have offensive military applications, including machine learning systems that make possible the more systematic targeting and elimination of enemies on the battlefield. Many of these engineers will build algorithms that optimize the placement of ads on social media platforms, but they will not build software for the U.S. Marines.

I think it's because they build each app from source to ensure what you see on github is what you get. And I think it just takes a while to process with so many apps on fdroid getting updates.

They're doing something right!

@nutomic@lemmy.ml small recommendations for these two repos:

Configure the github repo description to:

  1. Link to https://join-lemmy.org/ and https://join-lemmy.org/docs/en/index.html respectively
  2. Add a short description to each repo
  3. Hide packages/environments since you don't use them

All can be done with a few small clicks like seen here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/71247647/620699
