Has anyone gotten 7th Heaven to work with Linux?

I know there are instructions for the Steam Deck floating around so I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the direction of some instructions for Linux.

I couldn't find anything relevant from a few searches but I did get Memoria and Moguri working pretty easily for FFIX by just running the exe using protontricks-launch, tried that with the 7th Heaven installer and it crashes out with the following error and output from the terminal.

Internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userpf"

[x@archlinux FFVII]$ protontricks-launch --appid 39140 7thHeaven-v3.9.9.33_Release.exe

On a bus from El Paso to Phoenix someone smoked a joint in the bus bathroom and got dumped on the side of the highway immediately after.

Two hours later on that same bus trip the bus got raided by immigration and I got into an argument with the officer that wouldn't accept my ACTIVE, UNEXPIRED Military ID as a valid form of ID and started yelling at me for my passport (I have a Spanish last name). I threw my passport at him and told him to fuck off before I got my command group involved with his. I don't know how that worked but he got real quiet and left me alone immediately after that lol. There were several people that were pulled off of that bus that night. It was overall pretty shitty.

Did you read the article?

He was already a special needs student with an apparently individualized education program. This doesn't sound like a "Why now?" Situation. It sounds a bit like there may be more going on, especially since the school district declined to answer when questioned about it.

You may be right that it's probably not the first sign of aggression but he's also autistic with other issues. Do you know how expensive it is to get help, how our healthcare/insurance system preys on people to take their money rather than help them, and the likelihood of this family maybe not being able to help more than they already were?

I feel sorry for the person that he hurt, but this is a mentally ill black kid getting tossed in prison because of a mental illness. Which is going to ruin him just like you said.

The judge saying he showed no remorse is bs used to paint this kid in the worst light. Well no fucking shit he showed no remorse, if he's got a bunch of mental problems that would make sense. I knew a kid growing up that was similar, he was extremely strong and even the slightest thing could set him on a rampage. His parents drained everything they had into helping him, but it wasn't enough. When the insurance stops paying what are you going to do?

I'm not saying that nothing should be done but there's more to this than "parents failed the kid with mental disabilities".

So why can't we call this what it is.

An attempt at election interference and throw his ass in prison for treason. For such a high profile person it should be considered no less.

[-] skizzles@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 month ago

Because without context it comes across as racist.

Which is exactly what these people are being when they are saying that she is a diversity hire. Basically that she was only hired because she is black/indian, and a woman, not because she is qualified.

To be fair, it's also kinda dumb to point out something as an issue when it clearly wasnt, and saying "assuming the user/developer if the OS is a male" means that the person complaining is assuming that this dev was assuming something because he used the word he.

The issue was that the person decided that it bothered them so much that they needed to ask the dev to change it.

This has idiots on both sides written all over. Why is that person being nitpicky over something so stupid. Women use she/her in their writing all the time, just like men use he/him, and people with other pronouns are more likely to use what is familiar to them such as they/them.

I say this as someone with a child that has been reading books to them and noticed that an authors gender and the pronouns they use seem to correlate more often than not. Unless the book focuses on topics of or relating to understanding and accepting the differences in people. Both people are dumb in this scenario.

Edit: let me put things into a perspective that maybe some of you can understand. Let's take anything related to gender or being PC out of the equation.

I ask you to make a change to your documentation because I don't like the way you said something, then accuse you of being or believing a certain kind of way because of the grammar you used.

That is what this person did.

Now let's assume (yeah I said it) for the sake of my argument that the person doesn't feel any kind of way about the thing that they were accused of being. I'm pretty sure that person might just take offence to that. Which in this case is exactly what happened.

Had there just been a change that said something along the lines of just a simple grammatical correction. It probably would have be pushed and ignored.

In this case the dev definitely seemed like an ass, but that's not the point. The point is the whole fucking situation is stupid.

I would imagine that it's exactly because of the word you used. Fraud.

If someone is going on a chargback spree it's going to look fraudulent from the customers end. So their would likely need to be some kind of evidence or back and forth with the credit card company. Since they are now the middle man taking money from companies and putting it back in a lowly plebs pocket.

Having some trouble getting the drop down list to show any details.

As you can see in the screenshot it's just blank. Outside of that, everything Assetto Corsa works great.

I have tried following the method at the following link however it doesn't work at all for me. I can make it through the process up to the point where you should be able to launch CM but it just fails to launch.

https://gist.github.com/ANBAL534/4f1693536f17b75ebcc8016e0d4cc071#gistcomment-3872704

If I install AC fresh, using experimental or GE-Proton9-7 it will launch CM, but none of the drop down menus work, they just appear like in the screenshot.

I'm assuming that this may be related to some kind of .net issue but before I go digging around trying to manually change stuff, I figured I'd check if any one else has seen this issue.

I see lots of posts about KDE being able to sync the screen with LED backlit keyboards but other than saying that, no information on how to do it or what keyboards are compatible.

I could be totally missing something, I tried to parse through the changelog but didn't see anything in there about it.

Would anyone be able to explain how I should check if my keyboard (Akko 5108) is compatible and how I can change the settings if possible?

[-] skizzles@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 months ago

Again, it is not a "Custom OS" you aren't installing it as an OS from an ISO. You are still required to have your own licensed version of windows and install that prior to using AtlasOS. Using it does not cause security and instability issues as long as you understand what you are doing. Yes it is stripping things from windows. It's also open source so if you were so inclined you could see exactly what is being done.

If you equate using an automated solution to do things that you could do manually albeit with a bit more work involved, then every single OS is custom the second you change anything on it.

I do use Linux for what it's worth and have been for around 20 years. I've also been working in Tech for the last 15 ish years. I wouldn't be blindly recommending something that would wreck someone's security.

Please do some research.

https://github.com/atlas-os/atlas

There's a link to their source code. They even state that you have options to what security settings get messed with. So again, as long as you READ and understand what you are doing, you aren't necessarily breaking your systems security.

I want you to put your entire livelyhood on the line and potentially lose your medical license and everything you've worked for on top of possibly going to jail. Just so you can help someone. Guarantee you won't do it.

It's not just someone's wallet. There is way more to it than that.

The best thing they can do is to help them to find another Dr in another state that can help them out.

We need to get these idiots out of office and get a younger generation that actually represents the people in office.

Has anyone been experiencing issues getting their camera feed up in Bambu Studio or the Handy app?

For the first month and a half of having this printer the camera would usually load fine with the occasional issue. However now, I can't get the camera to load at all. It just errors out and says "Loading failed [-4]!" or "Loading failed [-13]!"

I'm looking to upgrade my Ender 3 Max Neo.

It has Marlin 2.0.8.3-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V1.4.7G firmware which I am unable to flash over to other versions of Marlin for some reason, it just crashes.

My board is a 4.2.2. Obviously as indicated by the note above.

I don't mind changing the board out but I'm having a hard time finding any information on the 3 Max Neo and would rather not buy parts just to end up finding out that it's not going to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using Ubuntu 22.04, installed retroarch and trying to import games.

Files are in zip format (also tried unzipped) and for whatever reason, retroarch refuses to import them.

I can manually select and play games but no systems show up.

Anybody ever experience something like this on Linux?

I've tried flatpak, appimg, regular install. Same results every time.

I use no-into sets.

Edit: just as a side note, I can import the same games on a Windows machine just fine.
