I’m guessing someone will have to figure out the algorithms through reverse engineering for each site then put together an extension. I will need to have some kind of vpn to change the ip address though.

update The best way to fight this is to make it illegal.

Can I get a tldr? I’m really out of the loop on this.

I read Madison’s post, but I’m not sure what’s going on with Linus other than that.

So would this mean that cpus would not generate heat?

Would smartphone battery life skyrocket?

Can someone breakdown how this would affect computing?

[-] worfamerryman@beehaw.org 24 points 1 year ago

I’ve hear something similar. I think I read that the US Air Force has a bunch of nodes or something.

Additionally I don’t really understand what I would use it for if I already have a vpn and how it might put me a risk of legal trouble if I’m using it and someone routes something bad through me while I’m using it…

I’m not even sure how to talk about it.

I am decently technical, I just don’t know this tech.

Maybe he only wanted to watch Barbie. Oppenheimer may not be the kind of movie he is into.

That’s a big nope for me.

Internet goes out? I can still do some amount of work, now I need power and internet to both work to do any work at all.

Not a fan of this and I will not embrace it.

That is a galaxy brain move.

My wife just got into Tetris and wants to play together. I have been bragging to her about how good I am at Tetris and now she wants to play together

We would like to play side by side on the TV, but we do not want any of that stuff where if person A does well, then person B gets random blocks.

Does something like this exist?

We could play on PC or on Switch.

I fail to see the purpose of a MacPro over a Mac Studio.

I know it has pci slots, but can someone tell me how they will realistically be used? Used in a way that can't be done with thunderbolt.

The pricing seems absurd compared to a Mac Studio.

I lived Red and Blue as a kid. I think I played Gold on an emulator back in the day.

I really loved the challenge I had playing Red as a kid. I liked getting through an area with just a few hp left.

I never got hardcore into the newer games and have been so disappointed with how easy and hand holding the newer games have been.

I would like to play a romhack. Can someone make a recommendation for me?

I have only played with it for a few minutes as I am about to start work. But it seems really great so far. I need to look into the control scheme to learn some of the controls, but it was not difficult to figure out.

I think it also supports controllers as well, I will likely play it that way at some point.

It looks like they forgot to finish their homework and submitted it hoping no one would notice, but it really stick out to me.

I don't think mastodon has had this issue and it has been a while. Since we are not on Twitter, you can just block whoever is an asshole.

[-] worfamerryman@beehaw.org 29 points 1 year ago

This is it 100%. I don’t think there is a major platform that does not already exist in the fediverse. I’m sure there is something, but even Instagram and YouTube can be replaced… well the YouTube one is hard due to the bandwidth and storage needed. But the tech is out there.

I think at some point this web3 will take over. Things like YouTube, will eventually come, but we need a lot of cost reduction in current tech to be able to do that.

We are finally taking the web back.

Our usage stats show that we have record low numbers of people using the site and at the same time we have too many people using the site.

If they are being completely honest, my guess is that the page that loads when a sub is private comes from a server that doesn’t typically get much load.

Then everything went private and suddenly that server was hugged to death.

There is a community that is new on lemmy.ml

lemmy.ml/c/englishlearning

I can access it from that site, but it says community not found when I try to navigate to it via.

beehaw.org/c/englishlearning@lemmy.ml

I am playing Pokemon Violet at the moment and it is a total bore. I have played the game so many times and I just want to run around catch Pokemon and battle.

I do not need another tutorial about what a Pokemon center is. Or a tutorial to tell me that I need to use a Pokeball to catch a Pokemon.

Can we get a "I've played this game 100 times" mode where it just saves the tutorials and lets us play the game?

I just wanted to thank you for your work on this app. iOS needs an app to access Lemmy. This is a great time for the app due to Apollo shutting down. I believe that your work on this app will greatly increase the number of people who join the fediverse.

[-] worfamerryman@beehaw.org 30 points 1 year ago

Once, Apollo shuts down, this site will get hit hard. I look forward to it and want to make as many posts as I can to increase the level of activity.

Yes, there are basically no reasons to not move to USB-C. Up until this point, I have been saying that it is a matter of convenience. But it is also economical.

The other day, my wife and I were out and planned to get lunch and go back home. We had outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day, so she decided to stay and work.

She did not have her lightning headphones and asked me how much a cheap pair would cost. Well, since it is lightning it would be about 3x as much as a USB-C pair.

I was so close to just pulling the trigger on an iPhone 13 since my iPhone XR is constantly freezing and has terrible battery life. This instance reaffirmed my decision to wait for a USB-C model iPhone.

If the iPhone 15 for some reason does not have USB-C or it is wildly expensive, I am just going to get an iPhone 13 and use that until is no longer works.
