My understanding is that it's fine when it doesn't refer to a person.
Referring to Asia as the "Orient" is just such a reactionary sounding thing. I assume Biden talks about the boy emperor in the Orient
We must refer to the West as the occident
Been playing a lot of Disco Elysium recently and I want to refer to the west as Occidental, but I don't think people would get that if I said it out loud
