you can ask bernie in 5 minutes, be real, you can ask in 1 minute, which people did

you can ask, sure, but you couldn't have a sincere conversation of the kind that might actually change bernie's perspective in 5 minutes. surely you're not suggesting that asking the question in an interview changes the game in some way: it's been pretty clear that bernie is a feckless liberal zionist on all matters of foreign policy. i also would hope that you understand the point of people asking in contexts other than a planned interview is to try and pressure bernie to do something that bernie himself obviously doesn't agree with, since he's a liberal zionist. so i ask again, what exactly is your theory here of the point of asking bernie sanders about his changing views on the (obviously failed) dream of kibbutzism in light of the last hundred years of genocide and settler-colonialism in a 5 minute interview that he chose to have with you. because i think all that would have accomplished is making hasan's chat and twitter leftists very happy, democrats and their paid lap dog commentators very performatively upset on behalf of a politician they otherwise hate and is otherwise very popular, and would result in a series of dissatisfying, fundamentally non answers from bernie sanders.

i don't like that despite whatever profile, during interaction with mainstream world you will never get completely opposing (refreshing (tm)) framing from that ilk. why not ask probing questions of bernie panders time in kibbutz? why not ask about myriads of polls showing that pisraelis are fascists through and through? why not talk about nazis in ukraine with aocia or matt duffus?

he's talked about all of that through and through myriad times, and bernie has given him five minutes of time twice. genuinely, how do you think they would have had time for that? i'm not asking you to trust him or something, don't trust anyone that you don't organize with in your area that you have an actual relationship with, but this is not exactly a reasonable criticism of the guy or the project. it's not that he's not oppositional in longer form interviews or something. are you mad at his tone?

i agree entirely. i like the site partly because it's effectively a hidey-hole from the most brain-poisoned liberals, but that isn't conducive to actually moving people further towards class consciousness and revolutionary organizing. i have my own grounded criticisms of hasan's work that i've articulated before here, but a lot of the ungrounded hate has reminded me that there are limitations to anti-sectarian spaces. we're not organizing here. there are people here who organize. with the more international stance of this site in general, i agree that more actively trying to organize u.s. americans into class consciousness would probably cause tension. it can't be a safe space for international comrades and an educational space for emotionally ill-adjusted imperial citizens.

well you see i'm an ultra and i think that talking about electoralism as a political commentator because you accept that it is currently the entity that the masses still think of as the sole locus of political possibility is actually why people are electoralists and not because this is the most propagandized population on earth. i am very smart. hasan is bad for not forming a PSL cadre or telling gavin newsome he should get the wall. /s

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (7 children)

so much hasan hate is a combination of ignorance about using different rhetoric in different contexts, an ignorance that needing a popular leftist that talks at length about u.s. imperial violence, and an ignorance where they imagine that he could have formed a successfully revolutionary PSL supercadre had he not chosen to be a wealthy political commentator. he's not an organizer. i don't know why hexbear ultras want him to be one so bad when he's clearly much better at this.

the biggest cost centers are people in production

almost like the two kinds of business are stealing profit from laborers or rent-seeking, and rent-seeking is by far more profitable.

"we killed most of the guys we had in mind" why even try to act like you had them in mind then? the amerikkkan media is not exactly reporting accurately and consistently about how the u.s. precision strikes have targeted both administration officials as well as opposition figures, one of whom was on house arrest. i guess the point is that the distraction leads people to think that this wasn't the plan all along, but this was clearly the plan all along. but this is a guy that doesn't play into his own incompetence like that regularly, so it just comes across as brandonization (if it isn't genuinely just brandonization, which it could well be)

in my heart this is the real bari weiss wasting her nazi time reading my tiktok comments

just learned that the charlie kirk doxxing operation is exactly the same thing that candace owens was trying to do in 2016

link is to a wired article that discusses charliesmurderers dot com which i will not be linking to because it is straightforwardly a doxxing website. seems like any post someone can find under your legal name is fair game to these people. for even the very smallest amount of apathy. one of the people listed is for just saying "and the world kept spinning."

Extremely disappointing to see this, this is not a Sankara thing to do at all.

This is a 6-month old video from Taylor Lorenz interviewing the founder of Jubilee. It came across my feed and in light of recent events, contains some interesting reporting on the rationale employed by people who are going out of their way to introduce liberals to fascist ideas.

This interview starts getting interesting around 8:00 and becomes explicitly about platforming fascists around 15:00. The founder goes on and on about "having empathy for both sides" before finally the mask slips and he reveals that he's a former Obama campaign staffer who doesn't like "division." In other words, this reveals that he is an explicitly anti-revolutionary liberal fascist. The project of Jubilee videos is to depress revolutionary sentiments via exposure, essentially. What do they hope to get out of something like putting Mehdi Hasan in a room with 20 Hitlers then? I think what they're accomplishing is that liberals get a little less likely to punch a Hitler in the face when they find one in meatspace, a little more tolerant of being around nazis. In other words, this is the ultimate fascist weaponization of identity politics as a framework. It also functions to help sharpen debate pervertry. One final observation: an insidious thing this guy seems to be doing is equivocating "empathy" with being a debate pervert. Which is obviously not a passable human definition of being empathetic.

this is a german citizen being denied any due process of law because of his opposition to a genocide his government participates in. germany never de-nazified, exhibit #5000

i'm really impressed with this coverage from Taylor Lorenz, in particular emphasizing that covid has continued and this country completely abandoned the immunocompromised and most at risk and emphasizing the genocide of Palestinian people. i wasn't aware that this kind of assassination meme had become somewhat popular.

tldr: you're probably not being poisoned by chips in your nonstick actually, but the making of all this stuff is already poisoning you anyway.

good ass effort post i thought, using brat to discuss the current social landscape
