In the other direction: we thicken the chili with instant mashed potatoes, melt sharp cheddar on top, scoop with corn chips, and dollop sour cream.

I like to melt/dissolve a few slices of (real) cheese, it's my favorite method of thickening stew like thing tho

I have a preference for using masarepa to thicken. I've got a buddy that prefers masa harina.
