I have to tell my mom Russia isn't the Soviet Union anymore and is no longer communist. But of course gommunism = authoritarian dictatorship = evil dictator Vlabeanmir Putin. It's especially awful because she loves Cold War spy thriller slop.
The really telling thing is they can apparently make the distinction between Nazi and Post-War Germany even when the Western half was still being run by former nazis. Hell they even routinely try to rehabilitate the Wehrmacht every so often, like some sort of hobby.
But 3 decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union they can't point out Russian connections to Trump without festooning it with hammers and sickles.
And these are the same people who expect you to believe they are capable of nuance with other thorny geopolitical issues. Yet they all rallied around the flag when President Cheeto Election Fraud, Mr Russian Disinformatskaya himself, blew up an Iranian general in Iraq.
