Newsom IS my enemy. I can indeed compromise and form coalitions with people I don't agree with if we merely have different priorities. I put fighting global warming ahead of most other causes but I have all the time in the world for people fighting racism or homelessness. I can also compromise with people who have different beliefs as long as we can gree on the important stuff - I am in my personal life a pretty strict/strong atheist but I have less than no problems working with Christians who believe in liberation theology! But my disagreement with Newsom is too fundamental. He is doing the fascist's work for them. Compromising with him is, thus, compromising with fascists, even if he himself is not one he is effectively in coalition with them by doing their work.

That's just... How that works. It may be purity politics to refuse to ally with someone who isn't advancing some of the causes you're advancing. It is absolutely not purity politics to refuse to ally with someone who is actively fighting against the causes you care about. I'm not going to fight alongside Newsom's camp because I would be fighting against my own causes. How is this hard to grasp.
