It makes light of the fact that America has been carrying out and bolstering fascism abroad for decades. In other words, covert fascism. For some reason, liberals have only started to renounce American fascism now that it was turned inward. In short, they were fine with covert fascism, but overt domestic fascism is unacceptable.
Leftists have held since day one that the American poltical experiment was built on slavery and genocide, and that fascism was the only logical conclusion. We are being vindicated.
