I just wonder if having a billion dollars does that to people or if only people like that are the ones willing to do what it takes to get a billion dollars.

It's funny to think reeving a billion dollars is like the zombie bite for becoming a nazi paedophile. I know there's more to it than that but the thought you just have billions dumped in your lap like Notch means it's just a matter of time

Not to get into theology but hat you just said is how I feel about Matthew 19 from the Bible. It's the story where a young man from a wealthy family is begging Jesus to become a new disciple. Jesus gives him a bunch of tasks, like respect his family, keep the sabbath, stuff like that. Jesus's final task is the young man has to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. The wealthy young man refuses and walks away in shame. That's when Jesus says the famous line, "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven."

To me this story is a very obvious condemnation of wealth and how it eats your soul. The rich young man was able to follow Christ's orders right until the point of personal sacrifice. And I keep being told by evangelicals that what Christ meant is that only some rich people go to heaven. Yet that's not the story at all. Jesus is saying a prerequisite of entering heaven is that a rich person must abandon their wealth. They have to stop being rich, because being rich is a parasite on their soul that must be removed for them to regain humanity.

Ol' Jeezy C had it right back in the day. Once you have heaps of money you could just go around helping people and still live off the interest. How much more do you need after that? But for some people it's never enough.

Probably a mix of both, but definitely think that our society rewards anti-social behaviors when you go big on them, and also if your desire is to be a nazi pedo, the safest way to achieve your dream is to pursue vast power so that no one can hold you accountable…. I think the basic might makes right foundation of right thinking selects for this also.
