I've had to rethink a lot of my opinions in light of the Epstein situation, the response to trum, and AI. Where once I thought I was just a magnet for the survivors of sexual abuse, I now have to accept that it's far, far more prevalent and it the fact that every person I've ever met being a sexually assaulted as a child isn't an anomaly.
In light of that, I can no longer argue that King's sexual content was his way of pushing the envelope. The notorious scene in IT is an obvious example. I found it odd when I read The Girl Who Loves Tom Gordon, that he would dedicate so much detail to how a girl should piss and wipe in the woods or the relief she feels washing her ass in the creek after giving herself disemntary. I now have no choice but to accept that it was as close as he was allowed to get to fondling her on the page.
It's hard to like things these days.
