i was in a meeting kind of zoned out in my brain palace but appearing totally normal & oriented to place... when someone said, "anyone rooting for a world cup team?" and i almost blurted out "Iran" before i remembered i was IRL.
I mean I was un-ironically, but I am literally Iranian
i am a burgerlander and that meeting was 100% honkeytown. it would have been a situation where one person who appreciates my deadpan radicalism would have laughed and had water come out of their nose and everybody else would have a record scratch awkward moment like i just burped the F word.
two buttons meme but it's rooting for iran vs boycotting the cup because the us is horrible.
Root for Iran but don't actually attend would be your solution
