This sounds outlandish to me tbh. Part of it is that in my culture women don't take the husband's name (unless they specifically want to) but also wdym it's not automatic in all records that seems like some gross incompetence (or a scam to get more emoney out of folks)
Dawg I said that too when I found out.
(Also I like your culture, we should get to keep our names (unless we don't want to))
