Because the sanctions against Russia went so well (Germany deindustrializing, Europe spiraling into full-blown economic crisis, Russia now self-reliant and with a newly reinvigorated and growing industrial manufacturing economy), the geniuses in Berlin and Brussels are preparing to sanction the central economic engine of the world, an economy at least ten times the size Russia's and upon which they themselves are even more dependent, at a time when Germany and Europe are maximally uncompetitive.
It's kinda funny how Western powers destroyed their own economies by outsourcing all production to China when their economies were their power.
What did they think was going to happen?
They were thinking about those sweet profits! Planning for long term sustainability is not something capitalists are very good at so it’s no surprise to me that they haven’t had the foresight that chasing cheap labor is not only a well that will one day run dry, but also leaves your economy dependent on global trade.
Meanwhile Russia and Iran are both pretty much entirely self reliant because of exclusion from the west’s trade network and aren’t rolling over militarily like the western governments seemed to think they would.
The problem is that the multi-national bourgeoisie of globalization looked down to national interests when they stood in the way of the profits. They thought that they could rely on the strength of the dollar (and US sanctions) and on the imperial military interventions forever.

Ironically despite their rampant chauvinism and supremacist actions a lot of elites look down on “supporting” their local productive base as “provincialism” - A untethered existence from material basis and the deconstruction of reality (the ultimate goal of postmodernism) is what they are after.
