The middle ground, like the real life counterpart, is reached when you seem to switch just a little bit, but not enough to actually change anything.
Pressing it just hard enough that the circuit arcs unstably making an ominous buzzing sound, at which point you use the scary noise as an excuse to release it again.
The "left" party: We're rubbing the switch very gently, why can't you see that we're nothing like the anti-switch-touchers!
