Problematically the fascists also agree with this meme except it's exterminating minorities.

[–] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 1 month ago

I'm for eliminating one minority.

The bourgeoisie.

[–] RedSturgeon@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

I would say that fascist thinks there's one switch that can be pressed to save the world, while socialists are working towards a world where everyone can flip their switch and when everyone does it you get communism.

[–] EatPotatoes@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Switch isn’t a good analogy for building socialism either. Fascists already have a base built on hatred. We’re stuck have to convince everybody to stay the course towards something better.

My great grandfather lived in a place where they pushed the switch and he had to flee the country.

Everyone who has ever pushed the switch has failed!

Turning the nob just a little to the right is just like pushing the switch actually.

Only authoritarian dictators and totalitarian governments push the switch, is that what you want?

Listen, the only way we can push the switch is by having continuous switch pushing.

Only the third world can push the switch, anyone else trying to do that is a nob turner in disguise.

One day aliens will arive and push the switch for us.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Haven't you read the work of fiction where pressing the switch is considered bad?

[–] booty@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Gleepglorp pushed the button and the planet exploded you fucking FOOL

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 20 points 1 month ago

The switch will be pushed by the AI once it becomes sentient trust me bro

“Pressing the switch will make us grow decadent! We need everything to be broken to protect our souls!”

“Have you ever considered just BEING one of the people benefiting from the problems?”

“Hey, my investment will be ruined if you press the switch! How could you be so inconsiderate?”

“Didn’t you learn in middle school that one of the government’s enemies are switch-pressers? We don’t believe in switch-pressing here! Think for yourself!”

“What if…good is the real bad and bad is the real good? Don’t press the switch!”

“Wow, you want to press the switch? Get a load of mr sanctimonious over here. Who like, caaaaares man? Don’t ask why keeping the switch unpressed is so important to me though.”

“You’re just jealous the problems like me and not you! Pressing the switch is just you having sour grapes! Neener neener!”

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 46 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Switch pressers took my grandfather's problem factory

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

He had the monopoly on all of the problems until those darn switch pressers came along!

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Have we asked the Senate Parliamentarian if we’re allowed to press the switch?

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 22 points 1 month ago

Too late, Supreme Court already ruled that we're not allowed to press the switch and must actually destroy it because of a barely related court case in the 1820's

[–] FactuallyUnscrupulou@hexbear.net 38 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Our parents never pressed the switch so it's wrong for us to press it.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 35 points 1 month ago

It wouldn’t be fair to all those people who had to make their way in life without having the switch pressed.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 36 points 1 month ago

It is simply human nature to not press the switch.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago (2 children)

i bet some fash is going to steal this meme and ~~imply~~ state outright that "the switch" is exterminating the undesirables

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Name of the game is beating them to the punch. NPC and redpill could have become “left” memes if the left simply did them and spread them first.

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

that's already happening, yes.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 28 points 1 month ago

We need more studies on the long term implications of pressing the switch.

[–] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

Fixing everything easily is exactly the same as ruining everything with great effort. So we should ruin everything with great effort. very-intelligent

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

One party accuses the other of wanting to press the switch, the other party spends millions on ads that say they're definitely not switch-pressers.

[–] RedSturgeon@hexbear.net 24 points 1 month ago
[–] moss_icon@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago

I will sign a Change.org petition to flip the switch

[–] ea6927d8@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

The middle ground, like the real life counterpart, is reached when you seem to switch just a little bit, but not enough to actually change anything.

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago

Pressing it just hard enough that the circuit arcs unstably making an ominous buzzing sound, at which point you use the scary noise as an excuse to release it again.

[–] booty@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago

The "left" party: We're rubbing the switch very gently, why can't you see that we're nothing like the anti-switch-touchers!

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Keeping the switch in the middle with two fingers on either side to prevent fix everything from accidentally triggering while keeping appearances.

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

If you press the switch once then we may have to do it again, and there will be no stopping us next time.

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

It builds character if you don't press the switch

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this feels like it could be a weird parody to The Stanley Parable

[–] vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

But everyone whose home we bombed after pressing the switch had their home destroyed, so pressing the switch destroys homes

[–] vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

But have you thought of all the anti-switch-pressers we had to repress in order to press the switch other times? It's better to let them kill many of us than to exert violence to press the switch

[–] emeralddawn45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago

Aside from the obvious political connotations, also windows users whenever anyone brings up linux.

[–] himeneko@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

i hear a 60 hertz hum behind the switch. are we sure it's not booby trapped?

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago
[–] Andrzej3K@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

The middle ground is holding the switch halfway so it arcs
